Job Title Environmental Technician Job Type Full-time Career Level Entry Level Education High School Location Jackson - Ridgeland, MS 39157 US (Primary) Category Technicians Job Description PPM Consultants, Inc., an environmental consulting firm, is seeking a dependable and mechanically inclined Environmental Field Technician to join our Mississippi team. The ideal candidate is safety-focused, detail-oriented, and enjoys hands-on work in an outdoor environment. This position requires the ability to work independently as well as collaboratively with a project team. Candidates with mechanical aptitude, industrial maintenance, construction, manufacturing, utility, or other technical trade experience are encouraged to apply. Previous environmental experience is preferred but not required, as PPM is willing to train motivated individuals with the right attitude and work ethic. Responsibilities Responsibilities include, but are not limited to: Collect air, water, soil, groundwater, and sediment samples in accordance with established procedures. Gather field data necessary to evaluate environmental conditions and support project objectives. Perform routine operation, maintenance, monitoring, and inspection of environmental remediation systems. Troubleshoot mechanical and electrical issues associated with remediation equipment and field systems. Conduct groundwater monitoring, system inspections, and equipment performance evaluations. Perform environmental inspections and site assessments at commercial, industrial, and retail facilities. Assist with regulatory compliance activities, data collection, and environmental reporting. Oversee subcontractors performing grounds maintenance and other field activities. Accurately document field activities, observations, measurements, and sampling results. Safely operate hand tools, power tools, pumps, generators, field equipment, and company vehicles while following company health and safety procedures. Travel to project sites as needed, including occasional overnight travel. Occasionally assist with community outreach activities related to environmental projects. Job Requirements Required Qualifications High school diploma or GED. Valid driver's license with a good driving record. Reliable transportation. Strong work ethic, dependability, and attention to detail. Mechanical aptitude and the ability to safely operate hand tools, power tools, and field equipment. Ability to work independently and as part of a project team. Good communication and recordkeeping skills. Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions and on active project sites. Ability to lift and carry equipment weighing 50 pounds or more. Willingness to travel for project assignments, including occasional overnight travel. Preferred Qualifications Previous environmental field experience, including sampling, monitoring, inspections, or remediation activities. Experience in industrial maintenance, manufacturing, construction, utilities, equipment maintenance, or another technical trade. Experience troubleshooting mechanical or electrical equipment. Basic knowledge of environmental science, environmental regulations, or remediation systems. Current 40-Hour HAZWOPER Certification. Associate degree or technical training in environmental science, engineering technology, industrial maintenance, or a related field. Why Join PPM?
