This position is ideal for someone who is eager to learn all aspects of environmental consulting and willing to complete required training to advance their skills.

Responsibilities

  • Perform environmental sampling and inspection activities, such as soil sampling and other field data collection tasks, following established procedures and quality standards.
  • Support research and data management efforts by organizing, entering, and maintaining environmental data in an accurate and timely manner.
  • Contribute to the preparation of technical documentation and reporting by summarizing field observations, sampling results, and other project-related information.
  • Provide design support services under the direction of staff, assisting with the implementation of project plans and specifications.
  • Work with your supervisor and project or task managers to understand ongoing and new assignments and manage your work to align with project schedules and priorities.
  • Conduct assignments in both field and office settings, adapting to changing project needs and locations.
  • Complete assigned training, including health and safety and technical training, to build knowledge of environmental consulting practices and regulatory requirements.
  • Prepare short-form, site-specific health and safety plans as requested, ensuring alignment with project and company safety standards.
  • Participate in required health and safety training and consistently follow safety protocols during field and office activities.
  • Travel locally and overnight as needed to support project work, which may require being on the road 50% to 90% of the time.
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary project teams and communicate effectively with supervisors and project managers regarding progress, issues, and field conditions.

Essential Skills

  • Bachelor"s degree in environmental science or a related field preferred.
  • Interest in and willingness to perform environmental fieldwork; prior environmental fieldwork experience preferred but not required.
  • Intermediate proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite, including Word, Excel, and Outlook.
  • Basic understanding of scientific concepts, including physics, statistics, chemistry, mathematics, and geosciences.
  • Ability to travel frequently, including local and overnight trips, and to work in the field under varied weather conditions as directed by a supervisor or project manager.
  • Completion of, or willingness to complete, a 40-hour Hazardous Waste Operations and Emergency Response (HAZWOPER) training.
  • Valid driver's license with a driving record in good standing.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • Strong desire to learn all aspects of environmental consulting, including field methods, data analysis, and regulatory considerations.
  • Willingness to complete assigned technical and safety training to expand responsibilities over time.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with supervisors and project or task managers and to follow instructions accurately.
  • Comfort working in both field and office environments and transitioning between them as project needs change.
  • Attention to detail when collecting samples, recording data, and preparing documentation.

Work Environment

This role involves a mix of field and office work supporting environmental consulting projects. Fieldwork may include soil sampling, inspections, and other environmental monitoring tasks conducted outdoors in varied and sometimes challenging weather conditions. You will frequently travel to project sites, with local and overnight travel ranging from approximately 50% to 90% of your time. In the office, you will use standard computer equipment and software, including Microsoft Office applications, to manage data, prepare reports, and support design and research tasks.
