Type: Part-Time

Shift: Second Shift — Every weekend + one additional weekday

Hours: 2:30 PM – 11:00 PM

 

 About the Role

The Environmental Services Technician I performs essential daily cleaning and disinfection duties that uphold hospital safety standards and support timely room turnover. This role is vital to maintaining a clean, organized, and welcoming environment for patients and visitors.

Key Responsibilities

  • Clean and disinfect patient rooms, operating rooms, bathrooms, corridors, and public areas using approved procedures.

  • Support patient throughput by ensuring timely room turnover for admissions and discharges.

  • Remove biomedical waste, trash, and soiled linens; replenish supplies as needed.

  • Operate UV disinfection equipment when required.

  • Follow all infection prevention protocols, including proper PPE use and isolation precautions.

  • Utilize department technology systems such as Bed Management.

  • Report unsafe conditions and submit Engineering Service Requests.

  • Maintain compliance with Orlando Health safety, risk management, and HIPAA standards.

  • Participate in departmental performance improvement initiatives.

 

 About the Environmental Services Department

Our Environmental Services team ensures a safe, clean, and comfortable environment through:

  • Cleaning & Disinfection of all hospital areas

  • Waste Management, including hazardous materials

  • Linen Services

  • Pest Control

  • Environmental Sustainability, including recycling and energy conservation

The department operates 24/7 to support continuous cleanliness and safety.
