Responsibilities

  • Perform third-party EPA air emissions testing and monitoring at industrial and manufacturing client sites.
  • Transport testing equipment to job sites using company vehicles in a safe and responsible manner.

  • Calibrate testing equipment to ensure accurate and reliable measurements.
  • Assist engineers with air quality testing procedures and field operations.
  • Follow environmental, health, and safety protocols at all times while on site and in the warehouse.
  • Organize, load, and secure testing equipment and supplies into vehicles in preparation for upcoming jobs.
  • Perform routine maintenance and cleaning of testing equipment to keep it in proper working condition.
  • Use company-provided resources and training materials to study for and obtain certifications for EPA Test Methods 1-5.
  • Work collaboratively as part of a field team, supporting colleagues and contributing to a safe, efficient work environment.
  • Perform general warehouse duties on non-field days, including laying out and preparing testing equipment, loading vehicles, and completing miscellaneous maintenance tasks.

Essential Skills

  • Minimum of a high school diploma.
  • 1+ year of experience in a field testing, maintenance, industrial, construction, landscaping, or other hands-on role is preferred.
  • Ability to work comfortably at heights of 100 to 400 feet above ground level.

  • Familiarity with OSHA safety practices and field safety protocols.
  • Interest in developing a long-term career in the environmental testing industry.
  • Motivation to progress along a defined career path from Test Technician to Test Engineer and into leadership or project management roles.
  • Strong attention to detail for accurate data recording and sample collection.
  • Ability to study independently and complete training for EPA Test Methods 1-5 certifications.

Work Environment

This role is based out of an office in the Las Vegas, NV area and involves extensive field work at industrial sites such as power plants, steel mills, refineries, and manufacturing facilities. Technicians regularly work at heights ranging from 100 to 400 feet above ground level, where temperatures are typically lower and winds are stronger, so team members should bring extra layers of clothing. Field days typically range from 8 to 10+ hours, while warehouse days are generally around 8 hours. Work is performed in team-based settings, with crew sizes ranging from 3 to 20 people depending on the project. The position requires openness to varying travel from week to week, with assignments ranging from single-day jobs to full work weeks; occasional weekend work may be required, typically not more than once a month. On days not scheduled in the field, technicians work in the warehouse preparing and laying out testing equipment, loading vehicles, cleaning equipment, and performing general maintenance tasks. Work hours and workloads can vary with project demands and weather conditions; jobs may be delayed due to severe rain, sleet, snow, or ice, but warehouse or home office work is typically available during slower or inclement periods. During large projects, technicians may work long days and up to approximately 60 hours per week, including paid travel time. Typical attire includes jeans, a long-sleeve T-shirt, boots (non-steel toe is acceptable), and appropriate outerwear such as a coat and stocking cap during colder months.
