Job Responsibilities

Lead of planning, training, and exercise activities for the region surrounding a nuclear power plant. Develops and maintains state operational radiological response plans on a yearly basis. Coordinates and assists local government organizations with the development and maintenance of radiological response plans. Assesses status of training in assigned area and advises and assists local officials with identified training needs. Monitors local governments' emergency preparedness training and compliance with state and federal laws, regulations, and standards. Leads and participates in the development, execution, and evaluation of biennial REP exercises at the state and county levels. Tracks the status of training and exercises within the region and ensures all programmatic requirements are met. Must be able to communicate effectively; assemble and analyze data and translate into concise planning documents; coordinate workshops and exercises; prepare and present briefings; prepare and present training programs and lead group discussions. Must be knowledgeable of the principles, concepts, methods and applications of emergency management fundamentals. Responds to multi-hazard emergencies; performs assorted division duties in support of counties or the emergency operations center.

Minimum and Additional Requirements

A bachelor's degree and experience in project management, planning, training, or exercises or other related work experience. Must be computer literate.

Preferred Qualifications

A minimum of two years of experience in planning, operational response, or multi-agency coordination. Should have the ability to communicate in a clear, concise manner, both orally and in writing. Experience with public speaking in small or large settings. Should be able to establish and maintain effective relationships with associations, local and state government personnel, and private utility personnel. Experience conducting training for small or large groups and ability to develop operations-based exercises. South Carolina Certified Emergency Manager certification preferred or will seek to acquire within three years.
