Senior Business Intelligence Developer (Healthcare Analytics)

Job Summary

The Senior Business Intelligence Developer partners with business stakeholders to transform complex healthcare data into actionable insights and strategic decision-making tools. This role combines advanced expertise in healthcare analytics, reporting development, and software development to design, build, and maintain reporting solutions and data assets.

The ideal candidate has a strong understanding of healthcare data sources, including electronic health records (EHRs), claims data, and clinical workflows, and works closely with Business Intelligence Developers, Data Engineers, Data Scientists, and business partners. This individual serves as a technical leader, translating business requirements into scalable solutions while mentoring junior team members and promoting data literacy across the organization.


Key Responsibilities

Business Intelligence & Analytics

  • Partner with business stakeholders to convert data into meaningful insights and knowledge that support operational and strategic decisions.
  • Develop reporting and analytic solutions leveraging healthcare data sources, workflows, and business processes.
  • Deliver advanced analytics that help identify, understand, and solve complex business problems.
  • Educate and train end users on reporting tools and data usage to promote data literacy and self-service analytics capabilities.

Reporting & Solution Development

  • Design, build, test, deploy, document, and maintain self-service reporting assets and data solutions.
  • Develop technical solutions using visualizations, metrics, dashboards, automated workflows, and data integrations.
  • Create reporting solutions utilizing:
    • Epic Cogito Suite
    • Clarity Data Model
    • Caboodle Data Model
    • Epic Registries
    • Epic Extract Framework
    • Custom Radar SQL Metrics
    • Data Links
    • Predictive Model Configuration

    • Power BI
  • Present technical solutions and recommendations to business and executive stakeholders.

Technical Leadership

  • Gather and analyze business requirements and translate them into detailed technical specifications.
  • Ensure proposed solutions align with business objectives, architecture standards, and strategic direction.
  • Provide troubleshooting, maintenance, support, oversight, and technical guidance for reporting and analytics solutions.
  • Lead adherence to development standards, quality practices, and digital services methodologies.
  • Mentor and coach junior Business Intelligence Developers on technical skills, best practices, and healthcare workflows.

Data Architecture & Engineering Collaboration

  • Collaborate with Data Engineers and Data Architects to ensure data models effectively support reporting and analytics use cases.
  • Support Extract, Transform, and Load (ETL) processes used to populate data warehouses and distribute data to downstream systems.
  • Validate relational and dimensional data models to ensure alignment with business requirements and enterprise architecture.

Agile & Cross-Functional Collaboration

  • Participate in Agile ceremonies and project planning activities.
  • Identify development dependencies and coordinate efforts across multiple teams.
  • Work collaboratively with internal and external customers to deliver scalable, high-quality solutions.

Required Qualifications

Education

Equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.

Experience

  • Minimum 5 years of experience in Business Intelligence, Analytics, Data Development, Software Development, or a related field.
  • Experience working with healthcare data, analytics, and reporting solutions.
