What you'll do at DBH:

The Ohio Department for Behavioral Health is seeking a highly skilled Epic Cadence Analyst to support the agency's clinical, operational, and patient‑access scheduling needs. This role is responsible for the design, build, configuration, optimization, and ongoing support of Epic Cadence applications, with a focus on ensuring accurate scheduling processes and secure handling of behavioral health patient data.

Key Responsibilities

Epic Cadence Build, Support & Optimization

• Serve as the agency's primary Epic Cadence analyst, responsible for designing, building, configuring, testing, and maintaining Cadence scheduling applications and related infrastructure.
• Analyze existing scheduling workflows, access needs, and operational requirements; identify gaps and translate business and regulatory needs into functional Cadence build.
• Configure and maintain scheduling environments and access controls to ensure proper handling of behavioral health and sensitive‑population data, in compliance with HIPAA, Ohio confidentiality laws, and internal privacy policies.
• Coordinate with Epic application teams to validate and reconcile scheduling data; ensure consistency of build across systems and resolve discrepancies.
• Manage the full change lifecycle for Cadence upgrades, releases, and new implementations, including analysis, testing, validation, and go‑live support.
• Build and maintain scheduling templates, appointment types, provider/resource records, referral workflows, and wait‑list management tools, ensuring alignment with inpatient, outpatient, and operational behavioral health workflows.
• Collaborate with clinical, operational, access management, compliance, and IT stakeholders to gather requirements, assess workflow efficiency, and deliver improved scheduling solutions.
• Maintain documentation, configuration records, test scripts, and build inventories; serve as a liaison between operational leaders, clinical teams, compliance officers, and IT.
• Participate in Epic workgroups, user forums, and advisory sessions; stay current with Epic NVTs, release notes, and industry best practices to identify and implement enhancements.

Cross‑Application Support & Security

• Provide cross‑application support for scheduling‑adjacent Epic modules such as Prelude, Grand Central, Referrals, EpicCare Ambulatory, and interoperability workflows as prioritized by leadership.
• Assist with analysis, build, testing, and support across other Epic application areas to ensure alignment of patient record, revenue cycle, and scheduling data.
• Apply enterprise scheduling knowledge to maintain accuracy and integrity of scheduling data across integrated systems.
• Uphold agency and State IT security policies, ensuring all Cadence configurations meet security, privacy, and access‑control standards for behavioral health and sensitive scheduling data.

Professional Development & Additional Duties

• Stay current with emerging technologies, standards, and techniques, and acquire new skills as required.
• Perform additional duties as assigned in support of agency IT or health information management operations.

This is an hourly position covered by the OCSEA/AFSCME bargaining unit (union), with a pay range of 33 on the OCSEA Pay Range Schedule. Normal working hours are 8:00am to 5:00pm. This position is located within our Office of Information Services, headquartered at the James Rhodes State Office Tower, 30 East Broad Street, 33rd floor, Columbus, Ohio 43215.

Unless required by any applicable union contract and/or requirements of the Ohio Revised Code, the selected candidate will begin at Step 1 of the pay range schedule listed above, with an opportunity for pay increase after six months of satisfactory performance and then a yearly raise thereafter.

Completion of undergraduate core program in computer science or information systems; 12 combined work experience in multiple areas of assigned responsibility (e.g., infrastructure, database administration, software development, business process analysis) as specified by the agency position description & job posting.
