Role: Epic Credentialed Trainer & Super User Lead
Location: South San Francisco, CA
Duration: 6+ months
Scope of Work: The consultant will develop training materials, meeting content, and end-user support resources while partnering with Epic analysts, application managers, clinical operations, and HIT teams. They will serve as the primary point of contact for Super Users and frontline staff by handling training requests, workflow issues, and triaging support to the appropriate teams. Responsibilities include facilitating meetings, conducting needs assessments, coordinating training initiatives, developing tip sheets, asynchronous and video-based learning, delivering one-on-one and group training, producing end-user communications, and supporting the continued growth of the Super User program to ensure training aligns with clinical workflows and organizational needs.
Requirements:
• Epic Credentialed/Principal Trainer or Epic Analyst experience preferred.
• Deliver Epic classroom, virtual, and refresher training for Super Users and clinical/administrative staff.
• Manage and maintain the Epic training environment, including patient training data.
• Assess Super User readiness through workflow evaluations, quizzes, and mock go-live exercises.
• Serve as the primary liaison between the Epic IT team and Super Users.
• Track Super User participation, credentialing progress, and departmental coverage.
• Communicate system updates, release notes, and workflow tip sheets.
• Provide on-site "elbow support" during Epic go-lives, upgrades, and new module implementations.
• Escalate complex technical or workflow issues to the Epic Analyst team.
• Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings, nights, weekends, and holidays during go-lives.
• Willingness to travel to hospitals or clinics for on-site training and support.
• Ability to stand, walk, and present for extended periods, and work at a computer for curriculum development and virtual support.
Qualifications:
• Complete Epic Credentialing (workflow exams and presentation panels) within 3–6 months of hire.
• Advanced proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and Learning Management Systems (LMS).
• Proven experience as an Epic Super User during go-live, upgrade, or optimization.
• Strong communication skills with the ability to explain technical concepts to non-technical users.
Education & Experience:
• Education: Bachelor's degree in Healthcare Administration, Information Technology, Nursing, or a related field; equivalent combination of an Associates' degree and relevant Epic/clinical experience considered.
• 2–3 years of healthcare or clinical operations experience.
• 1–2 years of hands-on Epic EHR experience.
• 1+ year of training or classroom facilitation experience (healthcare IT preferred).
• Active or former clinical license preferred.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
• Strong knowledge of Epic workflows/modules (e.g., Ambulatory, Inpatient, Cadence, Resolute), healthcare operations, medical terminology, and HIPAA.
• Understanding of adult learning principles, instructional design, and change management.
• Excellent facilitation, presentation, and classroom management skills.
• Ability to troubleshoot basic Epic training environment and virtual classroom issues.
• Experience creating training materials, quick-reference guides, and lesson plans.
• Strong active listening, adaptability, patience, and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to collaborate effectively with IT, instructional design, and clinical operations teams
