Our client, a Healthcare company, is looking for a Epic Instructional Design Specialist-eLearning Developer for their Remote location.
 
Responsibilities:
  • Client Instructional Design and eLearning Development team is responsible for developing the knowledge and skills of our workforce with a focus on Epic and its many integrations. They ensure Client staff can meet current and future business objectives and deliver quality educational services that meet our customers’ needs through online and hybrid content. They design courses, develop overall curriculums, produce eLearning, and create supporting education materials. They work closely with teams across the organization – conducting needs analyses, developing learning objectives, writing, organizing, and editing content, and applying learning theory to produce customized education solutions.
  • The team uses skills of instructional design and multimedia development to help shape curricular content into coherent instructional modules that employ multimedia and a variety of interactive, web-based tools aimed at encouraging engagement. They work to solve complex content or delivery-related issues in collaboration with Epic analysis and Client technical teams. Instructional Designers/eLearning Developers devise the educational interventions required, to close end user performance gap. They create training programs based on analysis and provide guidance in creating and evaluating the results.
  • Epic Instructional Design Specialist/eLearning Developers work closely with leaders, subject matter experts, and team members on all aspects of education programs.
  • They ensure project deadlines are met and that educational content reflects operational workflows, policies, and procedures. As functional experts they spearhead educational validation sessions for potential application build modifications, upgrades, or additional implementation of new technology.
  • Epic Instructional Design Specialist/eLearning Developers build educational content, working on the overall aesthetic appeal, and applying learning principles to deliver real knowledge gains to the learner.
  • They develop engaging and highly interactive content to support end user knowledge growth. They are responsible for advising and developing course curriculum as well as providing direction for creation and storage of educational materials. They work to ensure educational build/content and supporting materials are always up-to-date and readily accessible in Client environments.
  • Act as a point of escalation related to technical issues and questions
  • Collaborate with support faculty and Epic Analysts to improve student learning.
  • Participate in assigned integration work groups
  • Teach and mentor new IS Training team members to achieve maximum technical competencies
  • Determine appropriate training methodologies for new functionally/workflows
  • Ensure that instructional design is in alignment with adult education best practices
  • Manage training projects and create status reports of online training development progress
  • Educate employees and leaders on how to use the Learning Management System (LMS) efficiently
  • Lead prioritization of instructional design projects and ensures accountability for on-time delivery
  • Create and validate training tools which support the ongoing education of system users
  • Oversee the training environments and provides direction around the environment structure
  • Maximize utilization of tools and learning technologies in deploying eLearning content
  • Audit courses and assists with evaluating the effectiveness of learning programs
  • Utilize project management tactics to move projects to completion and accomplish stated educational goals.

  • Supports the training team in troubleshooting educational tools and acts as a point of escalation related to technical issues and questions.
  • Collaborates with support faculty and Epic Analysts to improve student learning using instructional design principles. Partners closely with campus Leadership to ensure that learning programs and tools transfer fluidly from the training environment to the operational workspace ensuring that feedback is bi-directional. Identifies and works to implement opportunities for process and system improvements.
  • Participates in assigned integration work groups to provide workflow observations and recommendations, offering Training specific considerations.
  • Teaches and mentors new IS Training team members to achieve maximum technical competencies and overall Client training process awareness
  • Assists in the development and maintenance of education tools relating to system updates and various Client initiatives
  • Determines approaches and appropriate training methodologies for new functionally/workflows based on predetermined learning needs and objectives
  • Ensures that instructional design is in alignment with adult education best practices; analyzes current trends, industry direction, and adult learning theory to help set strategy for areas of responsibility.
  • Keeps pace with both business and functional knowledge of healthcare, as well as internal and external requirements related to competency assessment and education
  • Creates detailed project plans with accurate schedules and task breakdown structures with defined milestones from individual project levels and align them with overall program requirements.
  • Manages training projects and creates status reports of online training development progress
  • Educates employees and leaders on how to use the Learning Management System (LMS) efficiently to manage the training of their teams; this includes training, documentation, running reports and managing content.
  • Monitors LMS reoccurring issues, system/data or process gaps and proactively identify potential sources of increased efficiency and enhancements
  • Leads prioritization of instructional design projects and ensures accountability for on-time delivery of all end products to support Client's learning approach
  • Creates and validates training tools which support the ongoing education of system users, and measure user competency as well as effectiveness of the training program.
  • Oversees ongoing maintenance of the training environments and provides direction around the environment structure and support (i.e. Mitosis Guru). Ensures the training environments are built and maintained optimally to facilitate delivery of true-to-life instruction and practice for end users.
  • Develops, modifies, and validates training curriculum, content, materials, and environments to meet the needs of Client’s end users. Applies contemporary learning best practices as well as standardized tools and templates to develop and maintain training material, job aids, exercises, activities, and documentation enhancing the learning process.
  • Directs structured learning experiences for eLearning modules. Creates monitored simulations and problem-solving scenarios for effective learning.
  • Audits courses and assists with evaluating the effectiveness of learning programs, making appropriate recommendations, and working towards overall standardization.
  • Utilizes project management tactics to move projects to completion and accomplish stated educational goals. Applies these methodologies to the instructional design process, including assessment, job analysis, course design and development.
  • Develops and uses metrics to lead needs analyses and learning strategy development activities to improve individual and organizational performance through learning
  • Maintains expertise and competence in the proper operation and optimal use of assigned software / Epic modules. Remains informed about trends and innovations in the industry
  • Partners with Epic Application implementation and support teams to understand system changes which impact end users; provides feedback for improvements and innovations from experiences with end users.
  • Creates knowledge checks and assessments based on course content to confirm comprehension of material and works to use gamification to encourage overall understanding.
  • Produces eLearning courses on time and aligns those programs with an overall learning outcomes strategy. Tests completed courses for functionality, quality, timing and recommend edits to improve accuracy and learner experience.
  • Designs, develops, and facilitates creative, learner-centered, performance-based education programs, modules, and supporting materials in multiple modalities.
  • Training programs may include storyboard, script with text, voice-over, sound, graphics, and closed-captioning
 
Requirements:
  • Minimum of 7 years’ relevant Epic experience
  • Minimum of 7 years’ experience in instructional design and development of web-based and eLearning
  • Experienced with Learning Management Systems (LMS) and integrated tools
  • Epic Master train environment (MST) build experience when working with Epic as the primary supported system
  • Demonstrated proficiency in adult learning theory, motivation, and development
  • Proven ability to identify issues, prioritize and problem solve through to resolution
  • Proven leadership skills in organizing, planning, and implementing process changes
  • Demonstrated advanced analytical and critical thinking skills to assess situations and choose effective solutions
  • Demonstrated ability with content development, build and refinement in assigned areas of training responsibilities.
  • Experienced owning education elements of projects with defined objectives, deliverables, and timelines
  • Adept at learning new software programs with expertise and interest in emerging technologies trends for content creation (e.g. gamification, virtual reality, xAPI)
  • Experience conducting training needs analysis to identify core problems to be solved and achieve desired results.
  • Experienced with technical training development, eLearning development tools, and learning management systems.
  • Proven competence in leading and owning education elements of multiple projects, collaborating with various stakeholders, and delivering high-quality products on time.
  • Proven success in learning analytics, working to raise the bar on how the team leverages technology to create exceptional learning experiences and measure its impact.
  • Ability to deal with ambiguity and prioritize, manage, and complete projects with tight deadlines.
  • Demonstrated working knowledge of media delivery formats including streaming video, animation, and their integration into a learning management system. Experience in content authoring tools, software development, graphic or usability design.
  • Past success working independently as well as in a team situation while meeting aggressive deadlines
  • Strong understanding of in-person, remote instruction, online and blended pedagogy as well as trends in instructional design
  • Ability to build trust with business leaders to ensure educational deliverables meet and exceed the needs of the business
  • Proven ability to own curriculum and advance course content with minimal direction for ongoing development assignments
  • Bachelor’s degree or an equivalent combination of education and relevant experience required
  • Epic Certification in one or more modules (NVT) required when working with Epic as the primary supported system; multiple certifications preferred
