Job Summary:
- A System Analyst III is a senior level position in the System Analyst job family.
- A person in this position will be required to work with and across teams of analysts to provide advanced level support for their customers.
- Performs advanced system configuration changes and maintenance to support the lifecycle of the application.
- Performs operational support, maintenance and system configuration as defined in departmental operating procedures.
- Performs 24/7 on call support if applicable.
- Recommends design enhancements and changes for complex systems.
- Required to mentor other staff and lead teams.
- Identifies, analyzes and resolves data and system issues of advanced complexity.
- Works independently and leads small teams in support of team initiatives and projects.
- Gathers requirements, develops specifications prepares and reviews documentation.
- Develops, validates and executes comprehensive test plans.
- Communicates effectively, negotiates changes, and assists in prioritization of tasks with clients, vendors and colleagues.
- May be considered the Subject Matter Expert in their area of application or domain.
- Educates and coaches other team members.
- May be required to travel to/from and work in the various CHOP locations, including patient care areas.
- May be required to travel for mandatory certifications.
- May be designated a Health Care Worker.
- May be required to represent I.S. and/or present to various Hospital Clinical and/or Operations committees.
- Understand and comply with all enterprise and IS departmental information security policies, procedures and standards.
- Support the integration of information security in the development, design, and implementation of Hospital Technology Resources that process, transmit, or store CHOP information.
- Support all compliance activities related to state, federal regulatory requirements, healthcare accreditation standards, and all other applicable regulations that govern the use and disclosure of patient, financial, or other confidential information.
We are seeking an experienced Epic Interoperability Consultant to provide senior-level analysis, design, implementation, and support for healthcare integration solutions. This individual will serve as a technical subject matter expert for Epic Bridges, HL7 interfaces, FHIR APIs, and Epic Web Services. The consultant will work independently across business, clinical, operational, and technical teams to design and implement secure, scalable, and maintainable integration solutions. The role requires advanced troubleshooting capabilities, strong stakeholder engagement skills, and the ability to lead complex interoperability efforts involving Epic and integrated healthcare applications.
Interoperability Design & Implementation
- Design, build, test, and support Epic Bridges interfaces utilizing HL7 v2.x messaging standards.
- Configure and implement Epic FHIR APIs, SMART on FHIR applications, and Epic Web Services.
- Gather and analyze business and technical requirements and translate them into integration specifications.
- Lead interface design sessions and technical workshops with stakeholders.
- Recommend integration architecture, design improvements, and optimization opportunities.
Application & Operational Support
- Provide advanced support for production interfaces and API solutions.
- Investigate and resolve complex integration, data quality, workflow, and application issues.
- Perform root cause analysis and recommend corrective actions for recurring problems.
- Monitor interface performance and proactively identify opportunities for improvement.
- Participate in on-call support activities as required.
Skills:
Required Skills & Experience:
- Relevant experience two (2) to five (5) years within a healthcare environment.
- Relevant experience three (3) to five (5) years as an information systems analyst.
- Performs advanced system configuration changes and maintenance to support the lifecycle of the application.
- Required to mentor other staff and lead teams.
Project Leadership
- Lead interoperability workstreams for new implementations, upgrades, system enhancements, and strategic initiatives.
- Coordinate activities across application teams, infrastructure teams, security teams, and vendors.
- Manage multiple concurrent projects and priorities with minimal supervision.
- Facilitate technical decision-making and drive issue resolution.
Documentation & Testing
- Develop and maintain integration specifications, support documentation, operational procedures, and technical runbooks.
- Create and execute comprehensive test plans for interfaces, APIs, and interoperability workflows.
- Coordinate testing activities with technical and operational stakeholders.
- Ensure appropriate change management and documentation standards are followed.
Subject Matter Expertise
- Serve as a recognized subject matter expert for Epic Bridges, FHIR APIs, and interoperability standards.
- Provide mentoring and technical guidance to analysts and project teams.
Compliance & Security
- Ensure all integration solutions comply with organizational security standards and applicable healthcare regulations.
- Support secure exchange and management of sensitive healthcare information.
- Participate in security reviews and technical risk assessments as needed.
- Educate stakeholders on integration capabilities, limitations, and best practices.
- Assist in establishing technical standards and operational processes for interoperability solutions.
Preferred Qualifications
- Epic Bridges Certification.
- Epic FHIR/API experience.
- Experience with healthcare system integrations and interoperability solutions.
- Experience implementing Epic Web APIs, SMART on FHIR applications, or third-party digital health integrations.
- Experience leading technical projects and implementation efforts.
Technical Skills
- Epic Bridges certification or equivalent hands-on experience.
Strong understanding of:
- HL7 v2.x
- FHIR
- SOAP/Web Services
- Interface engines
- Experience troubleshooting complex end-to-end integration workflows.
- Ability to develop and maintain technical specifications and data mapping documentation.

Required Education:

Required Qualifications
Experience
- Five or more years of healthcare IT experience focused on systems integration and interoperability.
- Three or more years of Epic Bridges experience.
- Experience implementing and supporting HL7 interfaces in production healthcare environments.
- Experience with FHIR APIs, and Web Services integrations.
- Experience working directly with vendors, business stakeholders, and technical teams.
- Epic Bridges Certification - Required
- Epic Inpatient Cert - Strongly Preferred
Required Experience
- Epic FHIR/API experience (Badge)
- Experience implementing Epic web APIs, SMART on FHIR applications, or third-party digital health integrations.
- Experience with project leadership and implementation planning.
- Technical documentation experience
