Join the dynamic Engaging Patients in Care Coordination (EPICC) team to assist in addressing the Kansas City (Western) region of Missouri. As a Certified Peer Recovery Coach, you will play a vital role in supporting individuals impacted by substance use disorders. This position is part of a community initiative coordinated by CommCARE in collaboration with leading treatment centers, including University Health, Beacon Mental Health, Centerstone/Burrell/Comprehensive Mental Health, Heartland Center for Behavioral Change, ReDiscover, and Swope Behavioral Health. The Recovery Coach will provide outreach to EPICC clients in the community and hospital emergency departments, complete required documentation in a timely maner, and mange agency-specific responsibiliities. The available positions are full-time. EOE. Qualifications & Education Minimum: - Have current Peer Specialist Certificate from Missouri Credentialing Board or within 90 days after hire date.
- High School Graduate or General Education Degree (GED).
- Previous lived experience with substance use.
- Must be in recovery for a minimum of two years.
- Must have a reliable vehicle, with current registered license plates in the state where plates were issued, valid driver's license, and current motor vehicle insurance.
- Experience working in the substance use and/or mental health field.
Preferred: - Experienced as a former recipient of substance use treatment services.
- Missouri Credentialing Board SUD certifications (MARS, MAADC, CRADC, etc.)
Essential Job Functions - Adhere to the monthly schedule established by the EPICC Lead Recovery Coach and/or Program Manager to ensure consistent service delivery.
- Provide outreach to individuals who have experienced opioid, stimulant, or alcohol overdose and connect them to treatment services (in hospital ERs or community settings).
- Conduct proactive outreach to individuals following an overdose, both in hospital emergency departments and community settings, and facilitate timely linkage to appropriate treatment services.
- Maintain ongoing engagement through scheduled follow-ups and status updates at key intervals to support sustained recovery.
- Support clients in overcoming barriers to program completion by addressing conflicts, resolving obstacles, and managing crisis situations promptly and effectively.
- Accurately document all services provided in compliance with agency policies and reporting requirements.
- Foster positive, professional relationships with referral sources and represent the agency with integrity and professionalism in all community interactions.
- Spend approximately 20-30 hours per week engaging clients in the community, including home visits, hospital visits and assigned trainings, for a minimum of 80 hours per month.
- Perform follow-up with clients and treatment providers to confirm successful referrals and ensure clients are connected and admitted to appropriate services.
- Manage a caseload of 10–15 clients, ensuring consistent delivery of maintenance-level services.
- Participate in weekly meetings with the Lead Recovery Coach/Program Manager to review cases, engagement strategies, and documentation.
- Maintain current Peer Specialist Certificate from Missouri Credentialing Board by completing required continuing education courses and completing renewal application.

- Willingness to participate in on-call shifts and respond to outreach requests within 60 minutes across the Greater Kansas City (Western) region.

- Willing and able to transport clients in a personal vehicle when necessary, maintaining valid driver’s license, proof of insurance, and adherence to all safety and agency transportation protocols,
- Proficiency in basic computer applications, including Microsoft Office Suite.
- Successful completion of Criminal Record and Child Abuse & Neglect Background check (9 CSR 10-5.190).
- Flexibility to work evenings, weekends, and on-call shifts as scheduled.
