The Engaging Patients in Care Coordination (EPICC) Program addresses the opioid epidemic and the use of other substances in the Greater Kansas City (Western) region of Missouri. As a Certified Peer Recovery Coach, you will have the opportunity to work on a community project being coordinated by CommCARE and in collaboration with the following Kansas City area treatment centers: University Health, Centerstone Behavioral Health, Beacon Mental Health Services, Heartland Center for Behavioral Change, ReDiscover, and Swope Behavioral Health. The Recovery Coach plays a critical role in supporting individuals impacted by substance use disorder. This position involves direct outreach, engagement, and retention of clients in treatment services. The Recovery Coach ensures evidence-based practices are implemented and fosters collaboration among stakeholders to achieve program goals.

Qualifications & Education:

Minimum:

Have current Peer Specialist Certificate from Missouri Credentialing Board

High School Graduate or General Education Degree (GED).

Previous lived experience with substance use.

Must be in recovery for a minimum of two years.

Must have a reliable vehicle, with current registered license plates in the state where plates were issued, valid driver's license, and current motor vehicle insurance.

Experience working in the substance use and/or mental health field.

Preferred:

A former consumer of substance use treatment services.

Missouri Credentialing Board SUD certification/s (MARS, MAADC, CRADC, etc.)

Essential Job Functions:

Implement and accurately document evidence-based outreach strategies in compliance with Missouri Hospital Association and Missouri Department of Mental Health guidelines.

Actively participate in treatment planning, clinical staffing, interagency meetings, and steering committee sessions to promote integrated care.

Manage a caseload of clients, ensuring consistent delivery of maintenance-level services.

Spend approximately 20-30 hours per week engaging clients in the community, including home visits, hospital visits. Additionaly attend required trainings and meetings.

Maintain timely communication by reading and responding to emails during each shift and staying informed of CommCARE policies and procedures.

Ability to work effectively in a team environment while remaining flexible and adaptable.

Strong time management skills with the capacity to work independently and prioritize tasks.

Willingness to participate in on-call shifts and respond to outreach requests within 60 minutes across the Greater Kansas City (Western) region.

Demonstrated accountability and ownership of actions and responsibilities.

Excellent verbal communication and active listening skills to engage clients and collaborate with colleagues.

Adaptability to changing workplace needs and program requirements.

Ability to build rapport and maintain positive relationships with individuals from diverse backgrounds.

Strong interpersonal skills and a client-centered approach to service delivery.

Commitment to evidence-based practices, including medication-assisted treatment as a valid recovery option.

Willing and able to transport clients in a personal vehicle when necessary, maintaining valid driver's license, proof of insurance, and adherence to all safety and agency transportation protocols

Proficiency in basic computer applications, including Microsoft Office Suite.

Successful completion of Criminal Record and Child Abuse & Neglect Background check (9 CSR 10-5.190).

Flexibility to work evenings, weekends, and on-call shifts as scheduled.
