This is a hybrid positionworking from 8:00 am to 5:00 pm Monday through Friday for a total of 37.5 hours per week. The pay rate for this position is $43.00 per hour.
Epidemiologist Job Overview:
The Tennessee Department of Health's Division of Family Health and Wellness is seeking an Epidemiologist 1 for the Children and Youth with Special Health Care Needs section in Nashville. This position will be responsible for professional scientific and epidemiological assessments of considerable difficulty for the Community Health Access and Navigation in Tennessee (CHANT initiative). This hybrid position will require some in-person attendance so candidates must be local to the Nashville area.
Epidemiologist Key Responsibilities:
- Preparing routine reports of program participation and outcomes to internal and external partners.
- Implementing SAS code changes and REDCap project changes as monitoring guidance evolves or processes change.
- Providing technical assistance to non-technical staff (e.g., REDCap system, SOP/task guidance, etc.).
- Writing independent code and testing output for accuracy.
- Pulling, cleaning, and submitting recurring CHANT reports (weekly, monthly, quarterly) in a timely manner.
- Working closely with MCH Programs Team to effectively support MCH surveillance projects and create data outputs and visualizations for CHANT data.
- Providing quick response of data inquiries and providing information of CHANT data to the regional teams, leadership, stakeholders and other public health partners.
- Fulfilling ad-hoc data and/or analysis reports.
- Translating programmatic requirements into the development of appropriate data collection.
Education & Experience Requirements for Epidemiologist position:
- Graduation from an accredited college or university with a master's degree in epidemiology, public health biostatistics, statistics or health information OR
- Graduation from an accredited college or university with a master's degree in health science, biomedical science or environmental science field with experience equivalent to two (2) years of professional experience in epidemiology, biostatistics, statistics, health informatics health sciences, biomedical sciences or environmental sciences.
- Ability to work remotely as well as coming into the Nashville office monthly or as needed.
- Proficient in managing electronic data and navigating complex databases with strong attention to detail.
- Demonstrated experiences in customer service and working on teams.
- Proficient in statistical software programming, such as SAS.
- Experience in public health and health data such as vital records or health survey data (preferred).
- Experience in deployment or implementation of application systems or related field (preferred).
- Foundation in system design, analysis and evaluation.
