The Department of Neurology at UT Southwestern School of Medicine is seeking a research faculty member who will establish and maintain an independent, externally funded laboratory focused on basic and/or translational research in epilepsy and related neurodevelopmental or neurological disorders.  Responsibilities include designing and executing rigorous experimental studies; developing innovative research programs aligned with institutional priorities; publishing findings in peer-reviewed journals; and presenting research at national and international scientific meetings.  The faculty member will ensure compliance with all institutional, federal, and ethical regulations governing laboratory research, including animal and biosafety protocols, and will oversee laboratory operations, budgeting, and personnel managment.

Additionally, the successful candidate will contribute to the academic mission through mentorship and training of graduate students, postdoctoral fellows, and research staff, and may participate in teaching activities appropriatee to their expertise.  Service responsibilities include participation in departmental, institutional, and professional committees, as well as engagement in collaborative research initiatives.  The successful candidate is expected to foster a collaborative, inclusive research environment and to contribute to the advancement of epilepsy research through interdisciplinary partnerships.

Qualifications:

  • PhD, MD, or MD/PhD trained
  • Significant post-doctoral fellowship training
  • Track record that indicates a readiness for independent career
