This team ensures that equipment, trucks, materials, and resources are in the right place, at the right time, and at the right cost to support project execution. We are seeking an experienced Fleet Manager with a strong logistics and heavy-equipment transportation background to lead equipment deployment, dispatch, utilization, vendor coordination, transportation planning, and fleet operations across multiple active construction projects.Summary:The Equipment Fleet Manager – Logistics & Operations is responsible for leading the logistical planning, coordination, deployment, transportation, utilization, and operational support of LEMOINE's company-owned and rented equipment fleet.This position serves as the central connection between the Equipment Department, project teams, Superintendents, Project Managers, equipment vendors, rental companies, heavy-haul transportation providers, mechanics, and field personnel. The Fleet Manager is responsible for ensuring equipment moves safely and efficiently between projects while maintaining visibility into equipment availability, utilization, transportation schedules, rental duration, maintenance needs, and operational costs.A major focus of this position is fleet logistics-planning equipment movements, coordinating heavy-haul transportation, managing dispatch activities, anticipating project equipment needs, reducing unnecessary equipment moves and rental costs, and ensuring project teams receive the equipment necessary to maintain production.The ideal candidate combines strong construction-equipment knowledge with logistics, dispatch, vendor-management, financial, and leadership experience.Responsibilities:Fleet Logistics & Equipment DeploymentLead the planning and coordination of equipment movement across multiple active Infrastructure projects.Develop and manage daily and weekly equipment dispatch schedules based on project priorities, equipment availability, and field-production needs.Coordinate the mobilization, demobilization, transfer, delivery, and pickup of company-owned and rented equipment.Manage logistics for the transportation of heavy and oversized construction equipment, including excavators, dozers, loaders, articulated trucks, cranes, rollers, and specialized equipment.Coordinate with heavy-haul trucking companies, internal drivers, rental vendors, and field leadership to ensure equipment arrives safely and on schedule.Determine the most efficient method for moving equipment between projects while considering transportation cost, distance, equipment availability, project schedule, and operational urgency.Maintain visibility of fleet availability and upcoming project demands to proactively plan equipment movements.Coordinate permits, routing, escorts, transportation requirements, and other logistical considerations associated with oversized or overweight equipment movements when applicable.Reduce unnecessary equipment transfers, transportation expenses, idle time, and rental days through proactive logistics planning.Respond to emergency or time-sensitive equipment needs and coordinate solutions that minimize disruption to project operations.Dispatch & Fleet CoordinationOversee equipment dispatch operations and maintain an accurate fleet-dispatch system.Monitor and track company-owned and rented equipment using Fleetwatcher, GPS, telematics, and other fleet-management systems.Maintain accurate records of equipment location, availability, assignment, utilization, and movement.Review upcoming project schedules with Superintendents and Project Managers to forecast equipment needs.Coordinate equipment allocation across competing project demands.Work with project leadership to identify idle or underutilized equipment that can be transferred to other projects.Recommend equipment reassignment or off-rent based on utilization, project schedules, and operational needs.Ensure project teams receive timely communication regarding equipment deliveries, transfers, delays, and availability.Develop processes that improve visibility and communication regarding fleet movement throughout the Infrastructure Department.Equipment Utilization & Cost ManagementMonitor equipment utilization across active projects and identify opportunities to increase fleet efficiency.Analyze company-owned versus rented equipment usage to determine the most cost-effective solution.Review rental duration and utilization to identify equipment that should be returned, transferred, or replaced.Develop strategies to reduce unnecessary rental costs, transportation expenses, downtime, and idle equipment.Prepare and review weekly equipment-utilization reports.Monitor fixed and controllable fleet costs and provide recommendations for improving cost performance.Review equipment operating costs, transportation costs, rental expenses, fuel usage, downtime, and maintenance trends.Assist leadership with budgeting, forecasting, and fleet-cost planning.Monitor emergency repairs and unplanned equipment expenses to identify recurring trends.Prepare and present fleet-performance information to Infrastructure leadership.Support month-end financial reconciliation and reporting for fleet operations.Vendor & Heavy-Haul ManagementBuild and maintain strong relationships with rental providers, heavy-haul transportation companies, repair facilities, equipment dealers, and suppliers.Negotiate competitive transportation rates, rental rates, service agreements, and vendor terms.Establish preferred heavy-haul and equipment-transportation providers based on safety, pricing, reliability, responsiveness, and performance.Review transportation and rental quotes to ensure LEMOINE receives competitive pricing.Assist Superintendents and Project Managers with obtaining equipment and transportation pricing.Monitor vendor service levels and address performance concerns.Evaluate vendor performance and make recommendations regarding continued use or replacement.Resolve service, delivery, transportation, and billing issues with vendors.Leverage LEMOINE's purchasing volume to negotiate favorable equipment rental and transportation agreements.Maintenance & Equipment AvailabilityCoordinate closely with mechanics and equipment personnel to maintain fleet availability.Monitor equipment scheduled for preventive maintenance and repairs.Ensure maintenance requirements are considered when planning equipment deployment and transfers.Coordinate replacement equipment when critical units are unavailable due to breakdowns or repairs.Track equipment downtime and work with mechanics, vendors, and project teams to minimize operational impacts.Ensure equipment is inspected before significant transfers or deployment to new projects.Coordinate transportation of equipment to and from repair facilities when necessary.Maintain visibility of equipment repair status so project teams can effectively plan operations.Fleet Administration & ComplianceOversee purchase orders associated with equipment rentals, repairs, transportation, parts, and fleet operations.Ensure equipment-related purchases follow company accounting and approval procedures.Review rental invoices, transportation invoices, and equipment charges for accuracy.Support monthly reconciliation of vendor accounts.Manage vehicle and equipment registrations, insurance documentation, permits, and other required fleet records.Ensure compliance with applicable DOT transportation requirements associated with equipment and vehicle movement.Maintain accurate records related to fleet logistics, equipment transfers, transportation activities, rentals, and vendor services.Ensure equipment-related technology, software licenses, GPS services, and telematics charges are accurately tracked and managed.Evaluate fleet-management technology and recommend improvements that increase operational visibility and efficiency.Safety & Operational SupportPromote safe equipment transportation, loading, unloading, and field operations.Ensure transportation providers and vendors meet LEMOINE safety expectations.Coordinate with Safety and project leadership regarding transportation plans involving high-risk or specialized equipment movements.Verify proper securement, loading, unloading, and staging procedures are followed.Participate in investigations involving equipment transportation, fleet incidents, or equipment damage when necessary.Support operator training and equipment-specific safety initiatives.Ensure fleet operations support LEMOINE's commitment to safe and efficient project execution.Leadership & Team DevelopmentProvide leadership and direction to Equipment Fleet Coordinators, dispatch personnel, fleet administrators, and other assigned fleet-support employees.Establish clear responsibilities, priorities, and performance expectations for fleet personnel.Coach and develop team members in equipment logistics, dispatch, utilization, vendor management, and fleet-management best practices.Promote accountability, communication, teamwork, urgency, and operational excellence.Coordinate closely with Infrastructure leadership to continuously improve fleet processes.Identify staffing and resource needs based on fleet growth and project demands.Develop standardized fleet-logistics procedures that can be consistently applied across Infrastructure projects.Perform other duties as assigned.Qualifications:Education: High school diploma or equivalent required; bachelor's degree in Business, Logistics, Supply Chain Management, Construction Management, Fleet Management, or a related field preferred.Experience: Minimum of 7 years of fleet, transportation, logistics, equipment-management, or construction operations experience, with progressively increasing responsibility.Previous leadership or supervisory experience within fleet, logistics, dispatch, transportation, or equipment operations strongly preferred.Experience supporting heavy civil, infrastructure, industrial, or large-scale construction operations strongly preferred.Strong working knowledge of construction equipment, heavy-haul transportation, fleet dispatch, equipment rentals, and equipment logistics.Demonstrated experience coordinating the movement of heavy construction equipment between multiple projects.Knowledge of heavy-haul transportation requirements, load planning, routing, permitting, and equipment-transportation logistics.Strong understanding of fleet utilization, equipment availability, rental management, and cost-control principles.Experience negotiating with equipment rental companies, trucking companies, repair providers, and other fleet vendors.Ability to interpret fleet financial data, budgets, utilization reports, rental costs, transportation expenses, and operational trends.Strong leadership, communication, organizational, analytical, and problem-solving skills.Ability to make timely decisions and manage changing priorities in a fast-paced construction environment.High level of proficiency with Microsoft Excel, Word, Outlook, and fleet-management technology.Experience with Fleetwatcher, GPS, telematics, dispatch software, or similar fleet-management systems preferred.Valid driver's license and acceptable driving record.Ability to travel regularly to project sites, equipment yards, maintenance facilities, and vendor locations.Preferred Qualifications:Experience managing fleet logistics across multiple construction projects or geographic locations.Strong background in heavy hauling, equipment transportation, dispatch, and logistics coordination.Experience managing large fleets of company-owned and rented heavy construction equipment.Knowledge of DOT regulations and commercial transportation requirements.Experience with oversize/overweight transportation permitting and route planning.Familiarity with equipment lifecycle management, replacement planning, and capital-equipment purchasing.Experience with budgeting, forecasting, P&L reporting, and fleet-cost analysis.OSHA 30 certification or other applicable construction/equipment safety certifications.Demonstrated success reducing equipment transportation costs, rental expenses, idle time, and fleet downtime.Physical Demands & Work Conditions:Work is performed in both office and active construction environments.Frequent travel between project sites, equipment yards, maintenance facilities, and vendor locations is required.Must be able to walk active construction sites and equipment yards over uneven terrain.May occasionally lift or move equipment, tools, or materials weighing up to 50 pounds.Regular exposure to outdoor weather conditions, construction equipment, noise, dust, mud, moving vehicles, and other conditions associated with heavy civil construction.May be required to work early mornings, evenings, weekends, or extended hours to coordinate critical equipment movements or
