The Big Task
You will operating heavy machinery such as excavators, skid steers, trenchers, and other construction/plumbing-
related equipment. This role plays a critical part in supporting installation, repair, and site preparation work across
residential and commercial job sites.
Key Sub Tasks
Safely operate excavators, skid steers, trenchers, and other heavy equipment for plumbing and utility
projects.
Perform trenching, grading, backfilling, and site preparation work.
Assist plumbing crews with equipment placement, material handling, and site coordination.
Conduct pre- and post-operation equipment inspections and report any maintenance needs.
Follow all safety protocols, job specifications, and regulatory requirements.
Maintain a clean and organized work environment on job sites.
Communicate effectively with crew leaders, project managers, and other team members to ensure efficient
workflow.
Support field operations with general labor tasks when equipment is not in use.
Desired Skills and Experience
Minimum 24 years of experience operating heavy equipment in construction, utilities, or plumbing
environments.
Proficiency in operating excavators and skid steers required.
Strong understanding of excavation safety, trenching requirements, and underground utility awareness.
Ability to read site plans and follow layout instructions.
Strong communication and teamwork skills.Equipment Operator Job Description
Valid NYS drivers license required; CDL preferred but not required.
Ability to work in varying outdoor conditions and job site environments. Experience working with plumbing
or underground utility contractors.
Familiarity with job site safety practices and OSHA compliance.
Mechanical knowledge for basic equipment troubleshooting a plus.
Physical Requirements
Ability to lift up to 75 lbs.
Comfortable working outdoors in various weather conditions.
Ability to climb, bend, squat, and work on uneven terrain.
Able to sit for extended periods while operating equipment.
