Equipment Operator (Dozer, Motor Grader, Excavator)

CR Jackson is seeking experienced Equipment Operators to join our growing construction team. We are looking for skilled professionals who can safely and efficiently operate heavy equipment including dozers, motor graders, and excavators on highway, site development, utility, and grading projects throughout South Carolina.

Position Summary

The Equipment Operator is responsible for the safe and productive operation of heavy construction equipment used in grading, excavation, site preparation, roadway construction, utility installation, and related activities. Operators will work closely with supervisors, foremen, and crew members to ensure projects are completed safely, efficiently, and to specification.

This position requires a commitment to safety, attention to detail, and the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced construction environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Safely operate one or more of the following:

  • Dozers

  • Motor Graders

  • Excavators

  • Perform grading, excavation, ditching, slope work, and site preparation activities.

  • Read and understand grade stakes, site plans, and project specifications.

  • Perform daily equipment inspections and basic preventive maintenance.

  • Identify and report equipment issues or repair needs promptly.

  • Work closely with survey crews, foremen, utility crews, and project management teams.

  • Follow all company safety policies and procedures.

  • Maintain productivity while producing high-quality work.

  • Assist with other construction activities as needed.

Qualifications

Required

  • Minimum 3 years of experience operating heavy construction equipment.
  • Experience operating at least one of the following: dozer, motor grader, or excavator.
  • Ability to safely work around utilities, structures, traffic, and other equipment.
  • Strong understanding of grading, excavation, and site development operations.
  • Valid driver's license.
  • Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and perform physical job duties as required.

Preferred

  • Experience on highway, heavy civil, utility, or site development projects.
  • GPS machine control experience (Topcon, Trimble, Leica, or similar systems).
  • Experience reading construction plans and grade information.
  • OSHA 10 or other construction safety training.
