Essential Duties & Responsibilities
• ***This Job Posting is for members of the International Union of Operating Engineers Local 302 only. Applicants will be dispatched from the union hall
• Work Closely and support a variety of skilled trades and construction activities.
• Follow directives from Project Superintendent and remain productive.
• Equipment operators of excavators – mini to under 3-yard class, loaders under 5-yards, and skid steers.
• Assist in maintaining safe work sites.
• Perform equipment operations for long hours, day after day, often in adverse conditions, to complete the project at hand.
• Responsible for reporting any incident, situation or activity that may affect Company’s ability to operate safely, ethically, and profitably to the Superintendent.
• Duty to conduct oneself in the best interest of the company while on the job representing CEI.
• Maintain any required certifications mandatory by law or company policy.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
• Willing to travel.
Required (Minimum Necessary) Qualifications
• 5 years’ experience as an equipment operator.
•
• Prior experience in Alaska’s rural construction industry is preferred.
• Proficiency with hand and power tools.
• Ability to work in a team environment, take directions from supervisor(s) and other crew members.
• Ability to actively listen and follow instructions.
• Ability to work productively under pressure.
• Strong self-motivation and work ethic; ability to work with or without direct supervision.
• Ability to report to work consistently on time and work a flexible schedule, up to 12 hours per day 7 days per week.
• Must pass Fit for Duty physical.
Knowledge, Skills, Abilities, and Other Characteristics
• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Prior experience in civil construction is preferred.
• Punctuality, reliability, and willingness to work in various weather conditions.

• This position will not have supervisory responsibilities.

• This position does perform DOT “safety-sensitive” functions (as defined under 49 CFR Part 40) and is subject to all federal requirements related to Department of Transportation requirements for those performing, or on-call to perform, “safety-sensitive” functions. The Physical Requirements of this role involve standing, walking, climbing, balancing, and sitting for long periods of time. Employees will be exposed to adverse weather conditions, including extreme heat and cold temperatures, inclement weather such as wind, rain, snow or sleet and dust and adverse driving conditions like wet, icy roads, and fog. Proper PPE, including protective eyewear, gloves, hard hat, ear protection and steel-toed boots are required.

The Work Environment: The equipment operator will work outdoors and may be exposed to noise, dust, and varying weather conditions. Safety protocols are critical, and workers may occasionally handle hazardous materials with proper training.

Schedule and Flexibility: Minimum 40 hours per week, may require overtime.
Other Pertinent Work Details: Travel is required.
Additional Qualifying Factors
As a condition of employment, you will be required to pass a pre-employment drug screening and have acceptable background check results. If applicable to the contract, you must also obtain and maintain the appropriate clearance levels required and must also be able to obtain access to military installations.
