Key Responsibilities
- Operate heavy equipment to perform digging, trenching, backfilling, grading, excavation, and material-handling tasks.
- Excavate trenches for utilities, foundations, and underground systems according to blueprints, plans, and site specifications.
- Safely operate equipment while maintaining awareness of surrounding personnel, structures, and other equipment.
- Coordinate with site supervisors, foremen, and other trades to ensure excavation and equipment operations meet project requirements.
- Conduct daily pre-operation inspections and report equipment issues or safety concerns.
- Perform basic routine maintenance and ensure equipment remains in safe operating condition.
- Follow all project safety procedures, OSHA regulations, and company policies.
- Maintain a clean and organized work area.
- Assist the ground crew with construction activities when not operating equipment.
- Communicate effectively with supervisors and team members regarding site conditions, hazards, equipment concerns, and project progress.
- Perform other construction-related duties as assigned.
Key Requirements:
- Minimum 2 years of heavy equipment operating experience on commercial or industrial construction projects.
- Experience operating any of these types of equipment,:
- Skid Steer
- Forklift
- Floor Scrubber
- Backhoe
- Dump Truck
- water truck
- haul truck
- Strong knowledge of excavation, grading, and earthmoving practices.
- Knowledge of soil types, trench safety, and excavation best practices.
- Must have a valid government-issued ID.
- Ability to follow directions and work effectively as part of a construction team.
- Strong communication skills and attention to safety.
Shifts:
- Monday-Saturday 10 hour shifts
