Shift Details:

  • 12 hrs shift, 36hrs/week

Nursing Specialty: Emergency Room Observation Unit
Registered Nurse (RN)  Duties & Responsibilities:



  • RNs will provide comprehensive, patient-centered care to individuals requiring short-term observation, diagnostic evaluation, and treatment following emergency department assessment.

  • RNs will care for a diverse patient population, including those with chest pain, syncope, transient ischemic attacks (TIA), heart failure exacerbations, asthma and COPD flare-ups, dehydration, abdominal pain, infections requiring short-term monitoring, and minor to moderate traumatic injuries such as head injuries, fractures, and falls. 

  • RNs will be monitoring patient conditions, administering medications and treatments, collaborating with physicians and multidisciplinary teams, performing rapid assessments, documenting care accurately, and responding effectively to changes in patient status. 

  • Assess patients' health conditions and develop individualized care plans.

  • Administer medications and treatments as prescribed by physicians.

  • Monitor patient progress and document assessments, interventions, and outcomes.

  • Collaborate with physicians and interdisciplinary healthcare teams to coordinate patient care.

  • Educate patients and families on diagnoses, treatment plans, medications, and discharge instructions.

  • Respond promptly to changes in patient condition and medical emergencies.

  • Perform wound care, IV therapy, and other clinical procedures within scope of practice.

  • Ensure compliance with healthcare regulations, infection control standards, and facility policies.

  • Maintain accurate and timely electronic medical records (EMR).

  • Provide compassionate, patient-centered care while promoting safety and quality outcomes.




Minimum Qualifications 

  • Current, valid, and unrestricted CA license/certification in good standing, as required for the position.

  • Minimum of one (1) recent year of experience in a Level 1 Trauma institution in a metropolitan city with a diverse population as an Emergency Room nurse.

  • Registered Nurse license,

  •  AHA BLS/ACLS/PALS, NIHSS Certification, 

  • MAB or CPI, LA City Fire and Life Safety card (must be LA City), 

  • Completion of the LA County Employee Health Clearance prior to the assignment start date. 

  • Copy of current, completed Primary Source Verification (PSV) from the appropriate licensing board or verification agency, if required.

  • Copy of all current required certifications and compliance documents (e.g., .BLS, N95 fit test, immunization records, TB test, or other client-specific requirements).
