ER Veterinary Technician Supervisor (Lead)

As an ER Technician Lead, you will:

• Oversee the individuals working in their specific department on any given shift to ensure their work product is excellent
• Review any patient/doctor issues that come up within their department in the moment to allow for expedient and satisfactory resolution
• Oversight of technical staff performance, ensuring quality control and consistency of technical staff completion
• Performance of technical staff review on a regular basis to ensure that staff members are provided clear expectations and understand how they perform compared to those expectations
• Maintain inventory and provides oversight of equipment performance and maintenance for their particular department by   communicating with the Inventory Coordinator
• Acts as primary person for resource management of technical staff within their specific department
• As assigned by Leadership, trains staff in various areas of technical skills pertinent to their specific department
• Provide any support to administration as needed for the benefit of the hospital
• Emergency Care: Administer medications, perform diagnostic tests (blood work, x-rays), assist in surgeries, and provide post-operative care. 
• Patient Monitoring: Continuously monitor vital signs, patient records, and respond to changes or issues. 
• Emergency Procedures: Provide CPR and other life-saving techniques when necessary. 
• Patient Handling: Handle and restrain animals safely for examinations and treatments. 
• Communication: Communicate with pet owners about their animal's condition and treatment plans. 
• Environment Maintenance: Maintain a clean and organized work environment, sterilize surgical instruments, and assist with intake and discharge. 
• Equipment Management: Operate and maintain medical equipment like ventilators and IV pumps. 
• Triage and Assessment: Conduct initial patient assessments and triage. 
• Advanced Skills: Experience with anesthetic induction, monitoring, IV catheter placement, and advanced nursing care. 

Expectations/Requirements:

• Prior veterinary ER & Leadership experience is required
• Proficient in drug calculation and strong anesthetic skills
• Display competency in general knowledge and nursing skills required to care for patients
• Strong communication skills
