What you will do
You'll be responsible for managing a team of Specialists who handle litigated and non-litigated claims in our E&O lines. Additionally this team handles EPLI claims. As a leader, you will also provide meaningful coaching, training, and development to prepare your team for advancement opportunities when appropriate. With your leadership, you will be responsible for the team's operational excellence and exceptional service to our customers. In this position, you will also participate in quality assurance to ensure claims handling accuracy. This position requires strong people and project leadership skills, a collaborative mindset, and technical skills in E&O and EPLI claims.
This is a hybrid role reporting to the Charlotte, NC; New Hartford, NY; or Woodbury, Long Island office.
Key responsibilities
- Oversee and instruct the technical staff in all phases of work performed in the handling of litigated and non-litigated Errors and Omissions and EPLI claims.
- Conduct reviews and audits on claim files, approve reserves and payment in excess of technicians authority. Participate in settlement conferences and trial reviews with the Manager and the Specialists.
- Maintain records and prepare performance reviews. Analyze and take corrective action in loss and expense control, assist in training programs and in handling claims of a complex nature. Prepare written and verbal reports as required.
- Determine proper procedure for the examining, investigating, reserving, settling or defending of E&O and EPLI claims, and organize and direct the examining force to carry out these procedures effectively and efficiently. Develop training curriculum as needed.
- Establish reserve control procedures to assure that reserves are current and reflect accurate loss and loss expenses.
- Investigate and take appropriate action concerning complaints from insurance departments, agents, insureds, and claimants and their attorneys.
- Set up intradepartmental work flow controls, and arrange the integration of work with other departments.
- Work directly with E&O agent customers as needed in providing claim related information and data. In addition, provide support and assistance to E&O agency customers in the preparation of loss control / risk management data and seminars.
- Provide support to E&O risk management in the development of risk management / loss control tools, data, seminars, and educational material.
- May perform supervisory function and assume the duties of the Director in his/her absence.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
- Conforms with all corporate policies and procedures.
What you need
- Bachelor's Degree preferred.
- 10+ years' claims experience demonstrating expertise in underlying coverages, broad background in litigated matters, and professional liability lines.
- Supervisory experience preferred.
Salary range: $123,000 - $165,000
The final salary to be paid and position within the internal salary range is reflective of the employee’s work experience, their geographic location, education, certification(s), scope and responsibilities in the role, and additional qualifications.
