Requirement/Must Have:
  • Requires a Bachelor's degree (or international equivalent) related to occupational safety or health and 5-8 years of relevant experience or 9-12 years of relevant work experience.
  • Specialized knowledge in a safety specialty (e.g., Personal Protective Equipment, lockout/tagout, fall protection, excavation, People Based Safety) or engineering (e.g., civil, process safety, mechanical) or related disciplines.
  • Knowledge of safety management, monitoring programs, principles, and methodologies.
  • Knowledge of safety and health laws and regulations and applicable agencies' permitting processes and responsibilities.
  • Knowledge of engineering, construction, and subcontract work processes.
  • Skilled in oral and written communication and knowledge of computer applications.
  • Bachelor of Science degree in a specialized scientific field (e.g., safety, industrial engineering, public health) or process/mechanical engineering and/or some practical work experience in the discipline performing the responsibilities listed above.
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills.
  • Must be willing to work a flexible schedule as required that may include but not limited to nightshift or split shift.
Responsibilities:
  • Assists execution of the safety component of an ESH Program inclusive of technical and administrative aspects.
  • Helps prepare and implement Safety and Health Management Plans, associated plans and procedures, and training program.
  • Provides input to Engineering, Construction, Procurement, Subcontracts, Commissioning, and other groups to assure that safety and health requirements are integrated within project planning and execution.
  • Interprets safety and health requirements and provides comprehensive assistance on plan preparation, risk assessment, and ESH program execution.
  • Researches moderately complex issues and regulatory requirements and prepares documentation and reports.
  • Provides support and guidance for safety studies, risk assessments, and program reviews and audits.
  • Participates in emergency response and incident investigation and resolution.
  • Interfaces and communicates with stakeholders and helps resolve their concerns.
  • Participates in meetings with customers, team members, subcontractors, and other stakeholders.
  • Conducts ESH inspections and monitoring to identify hazards and risks, evaluate controls and corrective actions, and assess compliance with contract, regulatory, project, and requirements.
  • Integrate safety and health requirements into complex project planning, design, and operations to reduce the potential for adverse impacts.
  • Perform risk assessments, provide input on bid decisions, lead meetings and communications, and track and monitor performance trends.

Qualification And Education:
  • Bachelor's degree in occupational safety, health, or related engineering field.
Physical Requirements(Due to nature of job, The candidate must have):
  • Ability to conduct field inspections including but not limited to: extensive walking in and around a construction site often in high heat and high humidity conditions.
  • Ability to climb ladders.
  • Ability to climb scaffolding.
  • Ability to work on elevated platforms.
  • Ability to work on uneven surfaces.
  • Ability to work in small or confined spaces.
  • Ability to lift items as required.
  • Ability to walk into and out of the project (enter/egress).
  • Ability to use appropriate standard issued Personal Protection Equipment (PPE) required for each assigned task (i.e. harness, life vest, lift buckets, etc.).
