Job Description
Summary
The ES&H Representative will provide technical oversight of Environmental, Safety, and Health (ES&H) compliance activities through field inspections and execution support on the Thacker Pass Project. This position partners closely with project management, construction teams, engineering, procurement, subcontractors, and other project stakeholders to ensure compliance with safety requirements, environmental standards, and regulatory obligations. The ideal candidate will have strong experience in construction safety, hazard mitigation, incident investigation, regulatory compliance, and continuous improvement initiatives.
Responsibilities
- Support implementation of the ES&H program and ES&H Management System across project operations.
- Assist project and construction management in complying with established safety and environmental requirements.
- Conduct field inspections and daily site surveillance to verify compliance with project safety standards.
- Monitor proper use of personal protective equipment (PPE) and safe work practices.
- Maintain ES&H databases, including incident reports, audit findings, corrective actions, and compliance records.
- Perform statistical analysis of ES&H data to identify trends and support continuous improvement initiatives.
- Participate in risk assessments, mitigation planning, hazard analysis, and monitoring activities.
- Prepare reports, communications, documentation, and records associated with ES&H program execution.
- Assist with incident notifications, investigations, root cause analysis, and corrective action implementation.
- Recommend improvements to work processes, procedures, and operational practices to minimize risk exposure.
- Support employee training, emergency preparedness, and quality assurance programs.
- Provide regulatory interpretations and technical guidance regarding ES&H requirements.
- Collaborate with engineering, construction, procurement, subcontract, project controls, and document control teams to address ES&H requirements.
- Support field and office personnel across all ES&H disciplines.
Required Skills
- Strong knowledge of OSHA 1910 and OSHA 1926 regulations.
- Experience implementing Environmental, Safety, and Health programs on construction or industrial projects.
- Knowledge of safety management systems, engineering controls, and risk mitigation methodologies.
- Experience conducting ES&H inspections, audits, and compliance assessments.
- Ability to perform root cause analysis and incident investigations.
- Experience developing and managing corrective action programs.
- Strong understanding of hazard identification and risk assessment techniques.
- Knowledge of environmental regulations, industry standards, and best management practices.
- Experience managing or providing oversight to ES&H subcontractors and consultants.
- Strong communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to prepare technical reports and present findings effectively.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications and data analysis tools.
Preferred Skills
- Understanding of Client ES&H Core Processes.
- Experience conducting contractor safety orientations and training programs.
- Experience leading ES&H audits and monitoring corrective action closure.
- Ability to coach contractor management and safety personnel on compliance requirements and safety expectations.
- Experience supporting EPC, EPCM, mining, energy, or large-scale industrial projects.
- Familiarity with electronic ES&H systems, software platforms, and reporting tools.
Education
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Environmental Science, Occupational Health and Safety, Engineering, Industrial Hygiene, or a related science discipline, or international equivalent.
Experience
- 5 to 8 years of relevant ES&H experience with a Bachelor's or Master's degree.
- Alternatively, 9 to 12 years of directly related professional experience.
- Experience supporting construction, mining, energy, industrial, or infrastructure projects.
- Proven experience conducting ES&H assessments, inspections, and compliance activities in field environments.
- Experience leading incident investigations, corrective action programs, and safety improvement initiatives.
Certifications
- OSHA certifications or other relevant safety certifications are preferred.
- Professional certifications related to environmental, health, or safety management are considered a plus.
