We help to ensure that citizens have a supply of attractive and efficient rental units, providing stable, safe housing for those who are either not ready for, or choose not to own, their own home.

Responsibilities of the Escrow Coordinator

SC Housings Mortgage Servicing Department services mortgage loans for first time homeowners for low to medium income families for affordable housing. As the Escrow Coordinator II, you will work under the supervision of the Escrow Services Manager. In this role you will:

  • Process property tax payments on all first mortgage loans.
  • Responsible for maintaining critical timeframes and deadlines for tax payments.
  • Research and reconcile monthly reports from the tax service company.
  • Reanalyze escrow accounts as required.
  • Process insurance claim checks for property damage as submitted by the mortgagor.
  • Communicate with contractors, insurance adjusters and inspection company on active insurance claims to ensure property damage is repaired as required.
  • Submit insurance claim requests for mortgagors on force placed insurance.
  • Provide detailed customer service support to mortgagors.
  • Is responsible for the monthly reconciliation and transmission of FHA premiums.
  • Is responsible for Year End Coordinator duties, to include processing of year end statements and submission of vendor and IRS file.
  • Actively utilizes the document management system (OnBase) and workflow processing within the servicing division.
  • Update written procedures and attends relevant trainings to stay abreast of procedure and policy updates.
  • Works on special projects as assigned.

Minimum and Additional Requirements

Agency Minimum Requirements:

A bachelors degree and relevant experience.

OR

An associates degree and 2 years of relevant experience.

OR

A high school diploma and 4 years or relevant experience.

  • An equivalent combination of education and experience may be substituted to meet the agency minimum requirements. (i.e. 1 year of education = 1 year of related experience)* Candidates must specifically meet the Agency Minimum Requirements or an equivalent combination of education and experience to be considered for this position.

Additional Requirements:

  • Ability to multi-task, manage time effectively, prioritize tasks, and process time sensitive materials in a fast-paced environment.
  • Must be extremely detail oriented and analytical with the ability to organize multiple tasks and set priorities.
  • Ability to exercise judgment and discretion to make sound decisions supported by facts.
  • Proficiency in all Microsoft Business software, especially MS Excel.

Must be able to lift and carry files, books and reports weighing up to 20 lbs. Must be able to perform filing, desk work and operate general office equipment. Must be able to sit or stand for prolonged or intermittent periods of time while sharing, gathering or presenting information to other staff members or external parties. Employee must be able to perform these tasks with or without reasonable accommodations.   • A Bachelors degree in business, accounting, finance or related field of study and related full time experience in mortgage servicing, banking, accounts receivable, or related housing field.
