GENERAL JOB SUMMARY:
Under limited supervision, the instructor is responsible for teaching non-credit English Language and Literacy (ELL) courses to students enrolled in Kirkwoods Adult Education and Literacy Programs. Instruction will take place face-to-face in Coralville, though there might be opportunities to teach in Cedar Rapids, Iowa City, or online if there are also openings at those locations in the future. At times, there might be travel to other Kirkwood locations for meetings. The instructor also assists students in transitioning students from ELL courses to Kirkwood related work training and higher education opportunities in collaboration with other Kirkwood staff.
Classes are held Monday through Thursday. The session dates for this program year include: July 8- September 10, 2026; September 28- December 10, 2026; January 11- March 11, 2027; March 29- June 3, 2027. Class times are 9:10am-11:10am, 11:25am-1:25pm, and 6:00pm-8:00pm. There are currently openings for a 9:10am - 11:10am class and a 6:00pm - 8:00pm class. The total hours per week for one class equates to 10 hours, with limited extra hours being available for team meetings, special projects, and professional development. While previous teaching experience (any subject, but literacy, language, or ELL preferred) is encouraged, there is no licensing requirement.

PHYSICAL ACTIVITIES WITH/WITHOUT REASONABLE ACCOMMODATION:
