ESL Tutor
Initiative: Beyond the Basics
Impact area: Basic needs (food, clothing, housing)
Location: New Britain
Hours: Weekend mornings and afternoons
Desired level of commitment: Once per week, 1 hour
Duration: Seasonal (School Year)
Age requirement: 21+
Tasks may include:
* Committing to work one on one with an adult learner
* Following provided training and materials
* Tailoring lessons to accomodate differences in learning styles and speed
* Evaluating students' progress
* Preparing and desseminating progress reports at regular intervals
In order to volunteer, you should be:
* A registered UAServe volunteer (you will have a chance to register if you haven't already)
* Willing to attend an orientation prior to volunteering
* Willing to submit a background check
* Open to an ongoing volunteer commitment that works with your schedule
* Knowledgeable about and respectful of cultural differences
* Punctual
* Reliable
* Patient
* Personable
* Proficient in English
