    About the Role & Program

    A department within the ESPN Programming Division and in partnership with the Southeastern Conference, SEC Network Digital priorities include driving engagement to SEC Network live events, fulfilling all digital needs for the Conference, and providing comprehensive event and studio content through on-demand video and live statistics. Serving as the central digital source for SEC fans of all sports, the SEC Network Digital Department publishes and manages content on the official digital platforms for SEC Network and the Southeastern Conference.

    We are seeking a highly organized intern who thrives in a fast-paced, video-driven newsroom and can effectively manage competing priorities and deadlines. The ideal candidate is curious, proactive, and skilled at identifying video-worthy stories through digital newsgathering and research. The intern will have an interest in visual storytelling and understands how video, images, and social content can enhance audience engagement across digital platforms. The approximate dates of this internship are September- December 2026.

    What You Will Do

    • Publish and maintain editorial content across ESPN and SEC digital platforms using CMS and proprietary publishing tools

    • Edit and package daily video content from SEC Network studio programming and live SEC sporting events

    • Utilize HTML and web publishing tools to update, format, and optimize digital content with accuracy and efficiency

    • Create compelling written content across multiple sports and subject areas while maintaining editorial standards and audience relevance

    • Develop and maintain standard operating procedures to support content workflows and publishing best practices

    • Support additional content publishing, editorial, and digital production initiatives as needed

    Required Qualifications and Skills

    • Demonstrated proficiency in English grammar and AP Style, with the ability to produce clear, accurate, and engaging content

    • Foundational news journalism experience and strong news judgment; understands assigned sport(s) through a journalistic lens and exhibits a solid understanding of news value, story development, and trending topics

    • Ability to monitor and assess social media activity, identifying timely content opportunities and emerging audience interests

    • Strong organizational and time-management skills, with the ability to prioritize multiple assignments based on timeliness, impact, and audience engagement potential

    • Demonstrated versatility in creating content across multiple sports, supported by sound editorial judgment and attention to detail

    Preferred Qualifications and Skills

    • Experience contributing to sports media content through television production, digital media, print journalism, or collegiate broadcasting

    • Demonstrated knowledge of U.S. sports history, industry trends, and emerging media technologies

    • Familiarity with television production workflows and collaboration within a fast-paced content environment

    • Experience working with server-based media, non-linear editing systems, or digital asset management tools

    • Proven ability to edit, screen, log, archive, and organize video content while maintaining accuracy and quality standards

    • Understanding of the evolving sports media landscape, including audience consumption behaviors, content distribution, and technology-driven innovations

    Education:

    • Senior year preferred

    • Major or previous course work in Communications, Film, Digital Media and Broadcasting or related majors preferred

    Eligibility Requirements & Program Information

    Candidates for this opportunity MUST meet all of the below requirements:

    • Be enrolled in an accredited college/university pursuing a degree taking at least one class at time of application OR currently participating in a Disney College Program or Disney Internship

    • Current Disney Interns, College, International, or Culinary Program Participants: You may only work for ONE consecutive year (12 months) in any combination of an internship and/or program

    • Be at least 18 years of age

    • Possess unrestricted work authorization 

    Additional Information

    • Able to work days, nights and weekends for the duration of the internship, 40 hours each week

    • Able to provide own housing for the duration internship program in the Charlotte, NC area

    • A limited amount of housing assistance may be provided for those who are eligible

    • Able to provide/have reliable transportation to/from work  

    The pay rate for this role in North Carolina is $22.50 per hour. Select benefits may be provided as part of the compensation package, such as medical, financial, and/or other benefits, dependent on the level and position offered.
