Description


 The Estimator is responsible for managing all pre-bid activities, including the development and preparation of accurate cost estimates for assigned construction projects. This role involves reviewing plans and specifications, conducting site visits and assessments, and ensuring all bid documents are thoroughly analyzed and completed. The Estimator is accountable for managing the technical aspects of the bidding process from start to finish, ensuring estimates are comprehensive, competitive, and aligned with project requirements. Strong analytical, organizational, and technical skills are essential for success in this role.

Work Environment:
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit; use hands and fingers, grasp, reach with hands and arms, see, speak, and hear. Frequently stand and walk. Occasionally required to stoop, kneel, or bend. The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 25 pounds. Most work is performed in office environment.

Responsibilities


  • Attend pre-bid meetings
  • Bid package review (Plans, Specifications, CAD, Geotechnical Report, etc.)
  • Detailed quantity takeoff and summary (Earthwork, Utilities, and Paving)
  • Communication with clients for bid requirements
  • Bid file document control
  • Vendor and Subcontractor solicitation and quote review
  • Develop and complete estimates for projects
  • Work with clients on preliminary project budgets
  • Maintain existing and develop new client relationships
  • Pre-construction budgeting and turnover
  • Assist with the training of junior-level estimators
  • Some travel, including overnight required (<15%)

Qualifications


Qualifications:
  • Minimum of 5 years of related experience in civil estimating and/or project management preferred.
  • Bachelor's degree in civil or mining engineering, construction management, or a related field preferred, or Associate degree in drafting, CAD Operator, or CAD Technician, or a related field
  • Detail-oriented and a problem solver
  • Experience with and proficiency in the following: Microsoft Office, B2W estimating software or equivalent, Agtek takeoff software, Primavera P6, AutoCAD, Google Earth, and Bluebeam.
