Job Details

Key Responsibilities:
  • Analyze drawings, specifications, and bid documents to define full project scope
  • Perform detailed quantity takeoffs and develop accurate cost estimates for power utility projects
  • Solicit, evaluate, and level subcontractor and vendor pricing
  • Prepare scopes of work, bid packages, and cost comparisons
  • Support full-cycle estimating including bid strategy, risk analysis, and pricing recommendations
  • Collaborate with project management and field teams to ensure constructability and successful handoff
  • Maintain relationships with subcontractors, suppliers, and industry partners
  • Identify and pursue new bid opportunities within the power and utility sector

Qualifications:
  • Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or related field (or equivalent experience)
  • 5–10+ years of estimating experience in power utility, electrical infrastructure, or heavy civil construction

Strong background in:
  • Underground utilities (ductbank, conduit, trenching)
  • Electrical distribution and substation work
  • Street lighting, traffic systems, or fiber infrastructure
  • Experience with both unit price and lump sum bidding
  • Proficiency in estimating software (e.g., HCSS HeavyBid or similar)
  • Strong understanding of construction methods, cost structures, and risk evaluation
  • Ability to manage multiple bids simultaneously and meet tight deadlines
  • Excellent communication, organizational, and analytical skills
