    Description

    Role, Function & Organization

    The Estimator II is responsible for preparing accurate and competitive cost estimates for various projects. This role involves reviewing specifications and drawings, performing quantity take-offs, and collaborating with project teams, vendors, and management to develop detailed bids. The Estimator II supports project planning, budgeting, and proposal efforts while maintaining up-to-date cost data and ensuring timely, high-quality submissions.

    Essential Duties and Responsibilities

    Estimating:

    • Gather, calculate, and compile data for use in bid proposal estimates
    • Prepare routine estimates with some supervision; prepare more complex estimates
    • Perform detailed quantity take-offs for the defined scope of work
    • Submit bids and proposals for estimated projects, following review by Manager
    • Prepare estimate breakdowns; provide information to Project Manager
    • Complete and submit internal documentation with all required supporting information
    • Assist estimating team with additional tasks as needed

    Cost & Data Management:

    • Maintain and update cost databases and estimating systems with current supplier pricing, labor rates, and unit values
    • Collect and analyze supplier data to ensure accurate and competitive bid preparation
    • Recommend and implement improvements to estimating tools and procedures to increase efficiency and accuracy

    Project Coordination & Documentation:

    • Maintain organized, up-to-date project files and drawings to support accuracy throughout the estimating process
    • Turn over finalized estimates and supporting documentation to managers and leadership as required
    • Coordinate with vendors to ensure project specifications and pricing align with project requirements
    • Complete additional assignments as directed to support team and organizational goals

    Safety/Hazard Recognition & Elimination:

    • Pre-plan and identify the methods to eliminate hazards daily by work task.
    • Execute skill in observing habits and hazards of others and bringing it to their attention.
    • Uphold safety as the most important goal of our company.  Support goal of achieving zero accidents.
    • Promote and encourage open communication between field and office regarding all safety concerns, suggestions, improvements, and PPE needed.
    • Obtain safety training as expected by all company personnel.

    Qualifications and Requirements

    • High School Diploma (or equivalent) required
    • Higher education OR equivalent experience preferred
    • Experience within the construction (specifically electrical construction) industry preferred
    • Ability to read and understand various construction documents

    Experience, Skill and Abilities

    • Provide knowledge, skills and availabilities needed to perform the jobs (i.e. language, software applications, etc.)
    • Positive safety attitude and personal integrity -- both are non-negotiable
    • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (including Excel, Word, Outlook, and Teams)
    • Strong self-motivation, work ethic, and drive for career growth
    • Strong communication skills, both verbal and written
    • Strong interpersonal skills; ability to interact with all levels of the company and customers

    Physical Requirements

    Office environment, requiring sitting and standing and extended amounts of time using a computer/keyboard at a single workstation.
