Commercial Flooring Estimator
Location: Chicagoland Area (On-Site)
Schedule: Monday – Friday | 8:00 AM – 5:30 PM
Compensation: $60,000 Base (Flexible based on experience) + Paid Overtime for all hours worked over 40/week
About the Opportunity
Our client is a well-established commercial flooring contractor that has been an industry leader for over 40 years. Their work can be found in some of the region's most recognizable facilities—including the locker room floors at Soldier Field for the Chicago Bears.
Due to continued business growth, they are looking to add a Commercial Flooring Estimator to their team. This is a long-term career opportunity—not a stepping stone—with excellent training, advancement opportunities, and a collaborative work environment.
This is a highly technical, office-based role with little to no customer interaction. The ideal candidate enjoys working with construction documents, analyzing project details, and preparing accurate takeoffs and estimates.
Responsibilities
- Review commercial construction drawings, blueprints, specifications, and bid documents.
- Prepare accurate flooring takeoffs for projects ranging from tenant improvements to large commercial and healthcare facilities.
- Develop labor scopes and detailed takeoff summaries for estimating.
- Prepare shop drawings to support installation teams.
- Research flooring products, material availability, and proper applications.
- Review project history for scope comparisons and pricing accuracy.
- Collaborate with Pricing, Project Management, Sales, and Installation teams throughout the estimating process.
- Utilize estimating software (Measure Square experience is a plus but not required).
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree or 4+ years of relevant experience.
- Experience reading blueprints, plans, and specification books.
- Construction industry experience preferred.
- Flooring estimating or installation experience is a plus but not required.
- Strong attention to detail with excellent analytical and organizational skills.
- Ability to work independently, prioritize tasks, and manage multiple projects.
- Advanced computer skills, including Microsoft Office.
- Eagerness to learn a specialized trade and build a long-term career.
