Description
The Estimator will be responsible for:
- Preparing detailed quantity take-offs, cost estimates, and bid proposals for commercial and federal construction projects.
- Analyzing drawings, specifications, and project documents to determine scope, pricing, and risk factors.
- Soliciting and evaluating subcontractor and supplier pricing to ensure competitive and accurate bids.
- Collaborating with project managers, operations teams, and leadership throughout the preconstruction process.
- Participating in bid reviews, value engineering exercises, and project strategy discussions.
- Maintaining current knowledge of market conditions, labor costs, material pricing, and industry trends.
- Supporting multiple pursuits simultaneously while ensuring deadlines and submission requirements are met.
- Assisting with cost planning, budgeting, and estimating best practices to improve bid success rates.
Profile
A successful Estimator should have:
- Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Engineering, Business, or a related field preferred.
- Estimating experience within commercial construction required; federal construction experience strongly preferred.
- Ability to interpret construction drawings, specifications, and contract documents.
- Experience developing comprehensive conceptual and hard-bid estimates.
- Strong analytical, communication, and organizational skills.
- Proficiency with estimating software and Microsoft Office applications.
- Ability to work effectively in a collaborative, team-oriented environment.
- Must be eligible to pass federal background checks and obtain access to secure facilities.
- Previous experience supporting Pentagon, Department of Defense, or other federal agency projects is highly desirable.
