EstimatorOur client is a well-established commercial construction firm with approximately 85-90 employees and a long-standing reputation for delivering construction services across federal government, institutional, and commercial markets. The company specializes in secure facilities, mission-critical environments, historic restoration, and high-profile construction programs. Due to continued growth and increasing project demand, they are seeking an experienced Estimator to help expand their backlog and support future opportunities. The Estimator will play a critical role in preconstruction efforts, partnering with operations and leadership teams to deliver competitive and accurate proposals.Job DescriptionLead estimating efforts for federal and commercial construction projectsPrepare detailed quantity takeoffs and cost estimates for assigned scopes of workReview project drawings, specifications, and bid requirementsDevelop accurate project budgets, bid proposals, and pricing packagesSolicit, evaluate, and level subcontractor and supplier proposalsMaintain and expand relationships with key subcontractors, vendors, and consultantsParticipate in site visits and pre-bid meetings to gather project informationEnsure appropriate subcontractor coverage for all bid opportunitiesPrepare and review bid general conditions prior to submissionWork closely with operations teams to develop a complete understanding of project scopeAnalyze project risks and identify cost-saving opportunitiesTrack bid results and maintain estimating metrics and reportingAssist with pricing and negotiating change orders as neededSupport hard bid, IDIQ, task order, and design-build pursuitsContribute to continuous improvement of estimating processes and databasesMPI does not discriminate on the basis of race, color, religion, sex, sexual orientation, gender identity or expression, national origin, age, disability, veteran status, marital status, or based on an individual's status in any group or class protected by applicable federal, state or local law. MPI encourages applications from minorities, women, the disabled, protected veterans and all other qualified applicants.The Successful ApplicantBachelor's degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, or related field, or equivalent industry experience5+ years of progressively responsible construction estimating experienceProven experience estimating commercial construction projectsStrong federal construction experience preferredThorough understanding of federal government procurement methods, including hard bid, IDIQ, and task order contractsWorking knowledge of the design-build delivery processFamiliarity with Washington, DC metro-area subcontractor marketsAbility to perform detailed quantity takeoffs and cost analysisStrong understanding of construction drawings, specifications, and bid instructionsExperience collaborating effectively with subcontractors during bid effortsExcellent communication, organization, and analytical skillsProficiency with estimating and construction software platformsLocal residency within the DC, Maryland, or Virginia region requiredWhat's on OfferBase Salary: $100,000 - $120,000Opportunity to work on nationally recognized federal landmarks and secure facilitiesStrong project pipeline and growing backlogStable organization with decades of successful federal contracting experienceCollaborative team environment with visibility to senior leadershipPotential for expedited interview process for highly qualified candidatesPlease apply to be considered for this position!
