Estimator - Heavy Highway

BELMONT Search is a construction executive search firm serving heavy civil and highway contractors across the Northeast and Mid-Atlantic. We are engaged on current and upcoming estimating searches with contractors bidding PennDOT and NJDOT work across the Philadelphia region and South Jersey.

THE OPPORTUNITY

These positions carry the number a highway contractor bids. The estimate determines whether the work is won, and whether it is profitable once the crews are on it.

THE ROLE

You will price heavy highway work for state and authority lettings, and carry your estimates through to the operations team that builds them.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

• Price PennDOT, NJDOT and authority lettings from advertisement through bid day
• Perform quantity takeoff and build production-based pricing from crew and equipment rates
• Solicit and level subcontractor and supplier quotes
• Analyze plans, specifications and special provisions for risk and opportunity
• Manage bid day, including the final review with ownership
• Support operations at buyout and through the early months of production

CANDIDATE PROFILE

• Three or more years estimating heavy highway or heavy civil construction
• Command of production-based pricing rather than unit price lookup
• Familiarity with state DOT bidding systems and prequalification
• A record of work won at a number that held

COMPENSATION

Base salary of $110,000 to $150,000, plus bonus. There is a defined route to senior estimating leadership for the right candidate.
