The Estimator generates estimates and new business opportunities within assigned markets

Essential Functions

• Generates and develops quotes
• Analyzes blueprints, specifications, proposals and other documentation to prepare quotes/estimates
• Computes various cost factors
• Prepares budgets and schedules for work
• Ensures all estimates meet or exceed company and customer's expectations, as well as regulatory requirements
• Develops beneficial business relationships
• Develops good working relationships with vendors, subcontractors, clients and INDOT personnel
• Develops a network and contacts within the community
• Performs day-to-day estimating tasks
• Sets up jobs in job costing
• Generates purchase orders and subcontractor agreements
• Reviews billings, prepares change orders and job cost reports
• Communicates with internal/external customers
• Answers inquiries via phone, email or in-person
• Provides highest levels of customer service
• Makes presentations to large and small groups
• Translates technical information into easily understood language
• Promotes and maintains safe work environment
• Exhibits safe work behaviors
• Wears all prescribed PPE

• Additional duties and responsibilities as assigned, including but not limited to continuously growing in alignment with the Company's core values, competencies, and skills.

Education Qualifications

• Required Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering, Construction management or related field

Experience Qualifications

• Required 3+ years in Heavy Highway/Civil/Asphalt Paving/Bridge construction or related field preferred

Working Conditions/Physical Demands

• Clerical office environment
• Indoor lab conditions that include standard office equipment such as computers, photocopier, phone, filing cabinets, fax machines, cubicles
• Sits at a desk regularly
• Looks at a computer screen 8 hours a day
• Performs data entry, alpha and 10-key numeric, on a keyboard
• Uses copy/fax to scan documents
• Drives a motor vehicle
• May lift or move up to 10lbs
• Regular travel to job sites, customer sites, and corporate offices around the state is required; mostly day trips, but some overnight travel may be required
