Overview

VectorUSA is seeking an experienced Senior Physical Security Design Engineer / Estimator to support our nationwide sales team. This role is responsible for end-to-end design and estimation of physical security systems, including video surveillance (CCTV), access control, and video intercom solutions.

We are specifically looking for individuals with hands-on experience designing physical security systems from the ground up, not just estimating pre-defined scopes. Candidates must also be well-versed in leading security manufacturers and platforms to minimize onboarding time and accelerate project delivery.

Projects span multiple industries and vary in size and complexity, often involving integrated security systems and supporting infrastructure, including structured cabling (ISP/OSP), fiber, copper, and pathway design.

Responsibilities

Lead client discovery sessions to define physical security requirements and system architecture

Design complete, scalable physical security solutions (CCTV, access control, intercom) from concept through proposal

Review and respond to RFPs, RFQs, SOWs, and construction drawings

Develop detailed Bills of Materials (BOMs), cost estimates, and written proposals

Produce system designs and layouts using Visio, Bluebeam, or similar tools

Conduct site walks and document field conditions and requirements

Interface with manufacturers and vendors to validate system design and pricing

Support Operations throughout project lifecycle, including kickoff and technical guidance

Ensure designs align with industry standards and best practices

Required Qualifications

7+ years of experience in physical security system design and estimation

Proven ability to design systems from initial concept through final proposal independently

Strong expertise in video surveillance, access control, and video intercom systems

Hands-on experience with leading security platforms and manufacturers (see below)

Experience with structured cabling design (ISP/OSP, fiber, copper, pathways, conduit)

Ability to read and interpret construction drawings, specifications, and RFPs

Strong attention to detail and proactive problem-solving skills

Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously

Excellent communication and client-facing skills

Proficiency with Microsoft Office and design tools (Visio, Bluebeam)

Previous field/installation experience

Ability to pass required background checks (DOJ, DBIDS)

Preferred Qualifications

Experience with integrated security platforms and PSIM systems

Relevant manufacturer certifications in access control and video surveillance systems

RCDD or other industry certifications are a plus

Additional Information
