Tekton Building Solutions Group (BSG) is seeking a versatile Estimator to join our growing team. This unique hybrid role is designed for a construction professional who excels at both the "win" and the "do." You will spend approximately half the week focused on preconstruction and estimating (quantifying, pricing, and bidding) and the other half managing active self-perform projects (coordination, submittals, and execution).

This key team member will passionately help promote the development of creative, innovative solutions to construction challenges and enjoy the acquisition of winning profitable work. This role is ideal for a self-starter who enjoys a fast-paced, "all-hands-on-deck" environment.

Successful candidates will demonstrate a passion for getting the job done right, repeat business, and a dedication to building the Tekton brand favorably in the market.

Responsibilities

Preconstruction & Estimating

  • Analyze drawings, specifications, proposals, and other documentation to prepare time, cost, and labor estimates for projects under various delivery methods.

  • Perform accurate quantity takeoffs and develop complete estimates for self-perform scopes in Tenant Improvement and renovation work, including but not limited to Divisions 6 (Rough Carpentry), 8, (Doors, Frames, & Hardware), 9 (Gypsum Board Assemblies, flooring, and, painting), 10 (Miscellaneous installations and accessories), 13 (HAC and Racking in Data Center sectors) among other self-perform scopes on a variety of project types.

  • Solicit Subcontractor and/or Vendor quotes and evaluate them for scope and qualifications to ensure full scope coverage when submitting proposals as General Contractor.

  • Perform risk and contract management responsibilities as required on bids.

  • Prepare responses to Request for Qualifications and Request for Proposals.

  • Monitor comparison of estimated costs to actual costs on current projects to refine future bidding accuracy.

Project Engineering & Management

  • Lead activities related to contract administration, change orders, procurement of materials, and financial reporting.

  • Manage submittals, project-specific work plans, and safety protocols for onsite crews with the help of the Superintendent and lead Foreman.

  • Coordinate work activity with owners, consultants, and trade partners to ensure schedule adherence.

  • Oversee project close-out, including as-builts, warranties, and final subcontractor payments.

  • Foster relationships with design firms and owners to secure repeat business for Tekton BSG.

Basic Qualifications

  • Undergraduate or graduate degree in engineering (Civil, Structural, or Architectural preferred), building science, construction management, or a related discipline.

  • 4+ years of construction experience with a general contractor or specialty subcontractor experience, with direct project management and estimator experience.

  • Experience managing projects successfully and a proven ability to perform detailed takeoffs, read complex contract drawings, and price labor/materials for interior trades.

  • Resourceful in evolving environments, comfortable in taking initiative, highly organized, and driven to grow a business.

  • Strong work ethic, leadership, and the ability to work in a fast-paced environment.

  • Alignment to our 3 Keys to Success: Enthusiasm & Drive, Delivery & Performance, and Learn & Grow.

The Physical Side of the Role

You will work in both an office setting and on active construction sites. In the office, you should be comfortable in a professional setting and with prolonged periods of focused work, whether it's collaborating with colleagues, analyzing data, or developing strategies. On the jobsite, you can expect to be on your feet frequently, navigating active job sites with uneven terrain, stairs, ladders, and hoists. The work is physically demanding and requires a full range of motion, including bending, kneeling, and reaching. You’ll need to be comfortable lifting and carrying materials up to 25 pounds, and occasionally up to 50 pounds.

Your Work Environment

You will spend both in an office setting workspace and on active construction site visits. This means  being adaptable to all kinds of environments. These environments are naturally more dynamic and can include exposure to outdoor weather conditions, louder noise, and moving equipment. Your safety is our top priority, and you'll be expected to follow Tekton’s safety policies and procedures, and all applicable laws, at all locations.

Our High-Performing Culture

This is a demanding, high-performance environment. We are looking for candidates who are energized by challenge, thrive under pressure, and are prepared to do what it takes to achieve exceptional results. Success in this role requires significant commitment, including flexibility to work extended hours, especially during critical project phases or client deadlines. Beyond regular working hours, there will be occasions where business needs require your attention, particularly for time-sensitive matters or emergencies. You are expected to monitor and respond to communications (phone calls, emails, text messages) as required to address these situations effectively. Your ability to manage these expectations and be responsive when critical issues arise is key to your success in this role and our collective success as a team.

A Drug Free Workplace

Tekton promotes a drug free workplace. A pre-employment drug “fitness for duty” screening is required, and the company conducts random quarterly drug “fitness for duty” tests.

Clark offers a total compensation package that includes base salary, bonus potential, and a comprehensive benefits package including health/dental/vision benefits, paid time off, retirement/401k, and Company Contribution plan. Additional benefits include life insurance, commuter benefit, short & long term disability, fitness reimbursement, FSA, tuition reimbursement, back-up daycare, tutoring & family support benefits, EAP/Work-Life assistance, and a holiday contribution program. For this role the base salary range is $50,000 - 130,000. Compensation may vary outside of this range depending on a number of factors, including a candidate’s education, experience, skills, and geographic location. Base pay is one part of the Total Compensation Package that is provided to compensate and recognize employees for their work.https://www.clarkconstruction.com/careers/clark-experience

ABOUT OUR CONSTRUCTION COMPANY

Work with the best! Clark Hunt Construction, Inc. is a family-owned company offering more than 50 years of experience and tradition in site construction and preparation.

With more than 30 years of experience as a general contractor, and working closely on hundreds of projects with other contractors and developers, we’ve gained a complete understanding of what it takes to deliver successful projects time after time. Our critical path engineering ensures projects are completed precisely to specifications, on time, and within budget.

Even when a project is still on the drawing board, we’re able to anticipate the most challenging requirements of commercial developers. We can often recognize and address site issues before they have a chance of becoming problems. CHC is the absolute leader in regional site preparation for some of America’s largest and well-known retail corporations.

George Hunt founded our original construction company almost 50 years ago. His son Warren C. Hunt has been in the construction industry since 1962, when he began his career with his father’s general construction company – George Hunt Inc. Warren worked directly with Publix Super Markets in developing shopping centers throughout Florida. He was also the general contractor for hundreds of other Florida projects, some of which are Countryside Mall, Old Hyde Park Village, Island in the Sun, Northwood Plaza, and East Lake Woodlands Condominiums.

With the retirement of his father George Hunt in 1981, the building division was phased out, and Warren C. Hunt purchased the underground utility division, becoming a Certified General Contractor in the State of Florida. We specialize in complete site development.
