My client is seeking an experienced Estimator - CNC Machining to support the quotation and planning of complex precision-machined components for Aerospace and Defense customers. This position plays a critical role in developing accurate cost estimates, analyzing manufacturing requirements, and producing competitive quote packages that drive business growth.

Description

The Estimator - CNC Machining will report directly into the General Manager and be responsible for:

  • Review customer blueprints, specifications, CAD models, and technical drawings to evaluate manufacturability and define manufacturing operations.
  • Develop detailed cost estimates including materials, machining cycle times, labor, tooling, outside processes, overhead, and profit margins.
  • Identify and communicate quote risks, assumptions, and exclusions prior to submission.
  • Coordinate with suppliers to obtain pricing for raw materials, hardware, and special processing requirements.
  • Prepare comprehensive quote packages including pricing, lead times, technical notes, and assumptions.
  • Review customer purchase orders against submitted quotes to ensure alignment on scope, pricing, and delivery requirements.
  • Partner with engineering, production, quality, and customer teams to optimize manufacturability and reduce costs.
  • Maintain accurate estimating records and historical data to improve quoting accuracy and consistency.

Profile

  • Minimum of 5 years of experience estimating CNC machining projects for Aerospace and Defense customers.
  • Strong knowledge of CNC milling, turning, tooling, fixturing, materials, and GD&T.
  • Experience developing cycle time estimates and manufacturing routings.
  • Familiarity with AS9100, ITAR, and related Aerospace and Defense quality requirements.
  • Ability to interpret complex engineering drawings and specifications.
  • Experience with Paperless Parts software is highly desirable.
  • Strong analytical, organizational, and communication skills.
