The Construction Estimator is responsible for preparing accurate cost estimates and bid proposals for construction projects. This position analyzes project plans, specifications, labor, materials, equipment, and subcontractor pricing to develop competitive and profitable project estimates.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Review project plans, specifications, and bid documents.
Prepare detailed cost estimates for labor, materials, equipment, and subcontractors.
Solicit and evaluate subcontractor and supplier quotes.
Perform quantity takeoffs and pricing analysis.
Prepare and submit bid proposals within deadlines.
Analyze project risks and identify cost-saving opportunities.
Maintain accurate estimating records and bid documentation.
Coordinate with project managers, superintendents, and field personnel during preconstruction and project handoff.
Attend pre-bid meetings and site visits as needed.
Review contracts and scope requirements to ensure estimate accuracy.
Assist with budgeting, change orders, and project cost analysis.
Maintain current knowledge of market pricing, construction methods, and industry standards.
Ensure compliance with company policies and safety requirements.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience estimating commercial projects is required.
Equivalent construction estimating experience may be substituted for education.
Strong understanding of construction methods, materials, and equipment.
Ability to read and interpret blueprints, specifications, and contracts.
Experience with estimating software and Microsoft Office applications.Knowledge of Procore beneficial.
Strong mathematical, analytical, and organizational skills.
Excellent communication and negotiation abilities.
Ability to manage multiple bids and deadlines.
