Description

The Estimator is responsible for developing accurate and competitive project estimates that support AMCON's business objectives and position projects for successful execution. This role works closely with the Preconstruction, Operations, and Field teams to evaluate project opportunities, develop budgets, analyze risks, and prepare comprehensive cost estimates throughout the preconstruction process.The Estimator will coordinate with clients, architects, engineers, subcontractors, and suppliers to gather information, solicit pricing, and ensure estimates are complete, accurate, and delivered on schedule. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, organized, and able to manage multiple priorities while contributing to a collaborative team environment.Key ResponsibilitiesPrepare conceptual, schematic, design development, and final construction estimates.Review plans, specifications, and project documents to determine project scope and requirements.Perform quantity takeoffs and cost analyses.Solicit and evaluate subcontractor and supplier proposals.Identify project risks, opportunities, and value engineering alternatives.Assist in developing project budgets and preliminary schedules.Collaborate with Project Managers, Field Managers, and Preconstruction personnel to develop project strategies.Participate in estimate reviews and project turnover meetings.Maintain accurate estimating records, databases, and historical cost information.Support business development and proposal efforts as needed.Assist in maintaining estimating standards, processes, and software tools.QualificationsBachelor's degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or related field preferred.3–7 years of commercial construction estimating experience preferred.Strong understanding of construction means, methods, materials, and costs.Ability to read and interpret construction drawings and specifications.Experience performing quantity takeoffs and preparing detailed cost estimates.Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.Excellent communication and teamwork abilities.Proficiency with estimating software, Microsoft Excel, and other construction technology platforms.Success MeasuresAccuracy and completeness of estimates.Timely completion of estimating milestones and bid deadlines.Quality of subcontractor and vendor engagement.Effective collaboration with project teams.Contribution to successful project pursuits and smooth project turnover to Operations.
