We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Estimator with Bridge and Roadway experience to join our team in our Castle Rock, CO office. Experience in bridge construction and bidding public sector roadway work required.
The Estimator will work under the direction of the Estimator Division Manager. The ideal candidate must be able to manage multiple projects at the same time.
Must have working knowledge of bridge construction and understand best practices in roadway/heavy highway construction.
Responsibilities:
Prepares heavy highway estimates per bid procedure, plans, and specs
Evaluates subcontractor quotes
Reviews all plans and specifications, drawings, and Owner requirements
Prepares bid proposal, including the cost breakdown, clarifications, scope, and exclusions
Acquires bid bonds from bonding company when required
Processes and distributes all addendums to subs and suppliers
Prepares quantity takeoffs for self-performed and subcontracted work
Responds to all subcontractor inquiries in relation to bids
Assists with pricing of drawings and revisions
Assists in the pricing of owner and subcontract change orders including written narrative and drawing overlay
Provides value engineering services when applicable
Prepares subcontractor comparison sheets for evaluation
Prepares estimate handoffs to project management
Prepare Owner / PM bid books
Prepare post-bid buyouts
Prepare call list and follow up for coverage
Maintain positive client/subcontractor relationships
Assists in job purchasing decisions
Other duties as assigned by Estimating Division Manager.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Computer skills in Microsoft Office, Microsoft Project, and HCSS.
Effective negotiation skills.
Extreme attention to detail.
Superior customer service skills required.
Must be able to effectively communicate and manage subcontractors.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Education and Experience:
Education: Minimum High school diploma/GED required.
Experience: 5+ years of experience with Civil and/or Heavy Highway Construction. Field experience prior to management/estimating a plus.
Salary from: $125,000+ per year; Based on Experience

Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk
Must be able to lift and carry up to 50 pounds
Climate-controlled office environment with varying temperatures
Occasional travel to jobsites with exposure to fluctuating weather conditions
Shop & Field Roles:
Work performed primarily outdoors in varying weather conditions, ranging from freezing temperatures to heat above 90°F, in both wet and dry conditions
Work may be performed in confined spaces
Exposure to odors, gases, dust, and dirt
Noise levels ranging from moderate to loud
Frequent lifting and carrying of 10-60 pounds; occasional lifting up to 100 pounds
Frequent overhead reaching and lifting
Majority of time spent standing, crawling, climbing, bending, twisting, pushing, pulling, and reaching
Manual labor, including hand digging as needed
Some Saturday work is required; Sundays are rarely needed
