Evening and Weekend Porter

Position Description

The Evening and Weekend Porter will be responsible, under the direction of the Director of Maintenance, for spot cleaning common areas in need of attention (lobbies, stairwells, common spaces), clearing trash from trash collection points throughout buildings, cleaning office spaces, and reporting any areas that require attention during after-hours to on-call maintenance technicians.

Specific Duties

Essential duties include but are not limited to:   

Weekends/Holiday (9am-5pm):

• Round to each Jubilee Housing property for the following:
• • Clearing trash from building collection points, where applicable, to dumpsters.
  • Monitor trash rooms, ensure items are removed from floor and bags taken out to dumpsters.
  • Clear and perform light cleaning common areas (lobbies, stairwells, common spaces) of any trash, environmental hazards.
  • Advise on-call maintenance technicians of any urgent maintenance items that are observed.
  • Other duties as assigned.

For Weekdays (3:30pm-8pm):

• Round to offices spaces at The Ritz and 1800 Columbia Road and perform the following:
• • Sweep, mops, scrubs, and vacuums floors of office spaces buildings, using cleaning solutions, tools and equipment 
  • Remove trash
  • Reports safety issues & concerns 

Other Duties as Assigned:

• When needed, assist with removal of snow and debris from common areas (at office spaces or elsewhere in portfolio).
• When directed, provide support at other properties inclusive of the specific items noted above (i.e. cleaning/trash duties).
• Other duties assigned.

Desired Qualifications

Porters must maintain a professional and courteous manner with residents, visitors, contractors and fellow employees. Maintenance Porters must have the necessary tools to effectively complete tasks outlined above. One must have the ability to follow oral and written instructions and be able to maintain effective and cooperative working relationships.
