Team Overview:

As a Medical Assistant supporting Women's Health within our Acute Care Department, you will provide clinical and patient support to individuals seeking care for a variety of women's health concerns. Working under the supervision of healthcare providers, you will assist with patient care, clinical procedures, documentation, and care coordination while contributing to a positive and supportive patient experience.

Work Hours: 

  • 2 days per week to start
  • 5:00 PM - 10 PM
  • Opportunity for the position to transition tofull-time based on departmental needs and business requirements

 

Position Overview:   

  • Patient-Centered Care: Support the delivery of individualized patient care by identifying patient needs, obtaining relevant medical histories and information, and assisting healthcare providers in prioritizing care based on clinical needs and urgency.
  • Support Women's Health Services: Assist healthcare providers with the evaluation and treatment of women's health concerns, including preparing patients for examinations and procedures and providing appropriate support and education under provider direction.
  • Clinical Excellence: Perform clinical duties including obtaining vital signs, preparing examination rooms, assisting with procedures, conducting diagnostic testing, and collecting and processing specimens in accordance with established protocols.
  • Facilitate Communication and Coordination: Serve as a liaison between patients and the healthcare team by communicating relevant patient information, assisting with referrals and follow-up needs, and helping promote continuity of care.
  • Accurate Documentation: Maintain timely and accurate patient documentation within eClinicalWorks (EMR), ensuring that clinical information is recorded in accordance with organizational standards and applicable regulations.
  • Maintain Clinical Standards: Maintain a clean, safe, and organized clinical environment. Follow infection control and safety protocols, properly clean and sterilize equipment and instruments, and maintain compliance with HIPAA and patient privacy requirements.
  • Patient Education and Support: Provide patients with appropriate education and instructions as directed by healthcare providers, while demonstrating empathy, professionalism, and respect for each patient's individual needs.
  • Professional Development and Adaptability: Demonstrate a willingness to learn and adapt to new clinical skills, procedures, and workflows. Maintain a positive attitude and contribute to a collaborative team environment.
  • Team Collaboration: Work collaboratively with providers and other members of the healthcare team to support efficient patient flow and high-quality care. Perform additional duties as assigned to support departmental operations and organizational needs.

 

Minimum Qualifications:   

  • Must have a strong commitment to a team dynamic as well as the ability to take initiative.
  • Must have good communication and interpersonal skills as well as an ability to effectively relate to all medical staff and patients.
  • Must possess a strong work ethic.
  • Comprehension and deductive reasoning
  • Ability to learn new techniques. 

 

Preferred Qualifications:  

  • 6 months as a Medical Assistant and/or training or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  •  Knowledge of Medical Terminology
  • CPR certified a plus  
  • Phlebotomy a plus
