POSITION JOB DESCRIPTION
POSITION TITLE: Evening School Social Worker
NUMBER OF POSITIONS: 1
RATE OF PAY: $40 PER HOUR
HOURS: 4:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M.
REPORTS TO: Deputy Superintendent for School Improvement
QUALIFICATIONS:
Required Experience or Training
- Valid Illinois Professional Educator License (PEL) with School Social Worker endorsement
- Master's Degree in Social Work from an accredited college or university
- Previous experience working with high school students
Desired Experience or Training
- Previous high school experience
- Social-emotional intervention experience
POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES:
PLANNING AND PREPARATION
- Demonstrate knowledge of school social work theory, practices, and techniques.
- Demonstrate knowledge of child and adolescent development.
- Establish goals for social work services appropriate to the setting and the students served.
- Demonstrate knowledge of state and federal regulations and resources, both within and beyond the school and district.
- Plan social work services that are integrated with the regular school program, including crisis prevention, intervention, and response.
- Develop methods to evaluate services and communicate relevant findings.

- Assess student social-emotional, behavioral, and educational needs.
- Assist students, families, teachers, and other school personnel in addressing barriers that may impact student academic success.
- Provide appropriate social-emotional interventions and support to students individually and in small-group settings.
- Broker and coordinate school and community resources to meet student needs.
- Demonstrate flexibility and responsiveness to student needs.
