Position Overview
Good Works Hub is seeking a Volunteer Event Planner / Community Events Coordinator to support the planning and execution of mission-driven events. This role is open to entry-level candidates and career-changers who are eager to gain real-world experience in event planning, community engagement, and nonprofit operations.
You will receive mentorship, hands-on responsibilities, and a stipend tied to event milestones and deliverables.
What You'll Do
Event Planning & Logistics
- Support planning and coordination of in-person and hybrid events
- Help create event timelines, checklists, and run-of-show documents
- Assist with venue coordination, vendors, permits, supplies, and catering
- Help track basic budgets and expenses
Community & Partner Coordination
- Communicate with volunteers, speakers, vendors, and partners
- Help manage registrations and participant communications
- Support a welcoming, inclusive experience for all attendees
Marketing & Communications Support
- Assist with event listings, registration pages, and calendars
- Help draft social media captions, emails, and event descriptions
- Support on-site signage and registration materials
Day-of Event Support
- Assist with event set-up, check-in, and breakdown
- Help coordinate volunteers and troubleshoot issues
- Provide on-site support to ensure events run smoothly
Learning & Growth
- Participate in planning meetings and post-event debriefs
- Learn nonprofit event planning best practices
- Build a portfolio of real events you've helped deliver

Qualifications
Required
- Strong interest in event planning and community engagement

Nice to Have (Not Required)
- Any prior event, volunteer, hospitality, or coordination experience
- Familiarity with tools like Google Workspace, Eventbrite, Notion, or Canva
- Interest in sustainability, food systems, housing, or social impact
No formal event-planning experience required.
