JOB SUMMARY:
The Event Specialist works in collaboration with and in support of the Senior Marketing Manager and agency leadership to plan, coordinate, and execute agency events that support Habitat for Humanity of Greater Nashville’s mission, brand and sustainability. This role is responsible for the successful planning and implementation of Habitat fundraising events, donor and partner appreciation events, home dedications, and other agency-hosted, public facing events as assigned. Additionally responsible for performance of assigned marketing and communications responsibilities. 
 
KEY RESPONSIBILITY AREAS:
  • Serve as a key ambassador for Habitat, building and maintaining relationships with local venues, vendors, sponsors, community partners, and Advisory Council members throughout Habitat’s five-county service area
  • Plan, implement and evaluate agency events including Home Dedication Celebrations, Houses of Hope fundraising events, Golf Classic, Supporters Holiday Breakfast and other special events across the five-county service area. 
  • Coordinate staff volunteers for events and special projects. 
  • Support events relating to agency affinity builds including Women Build, Music Row Build, Methodist Build, Unity Build and others as needed. 
  • Support event needs requested by Habitat for Humanity of Tennessee and other agency initiatives as approved by the Senior Vice President of Marketing 
  • Manage and maintain the agency marketing and communications content calendar. 
  • Assist in creating, scheduling and publishing content across agency social media platforms. 
  • Coordinate production of the monthly agency newsletter by assisting in the gathering of content from all departments, developing editorial plans, writing and editing articles, and ensuring timely distribution. 
  • Assist with photography and content creation for events and communications initiatives. 
  • Coordinate with the Senior Marketing Manager and Graphic Designer and Production Manager on event-related communications materials, press releases and promotional materials. 
  • Build and maintain relationships with local venues, caterers, food vendors, suppliers, sponsors and community partners. 
  • Coordinate communications and engagement activities with county Advisory Council members across the service area 
  • Serve as a Habitat representative at community events, service fairs and partner activities as requested and aligned with agency goals.
  • Assist with build-site coverage and volunteer support as needed. 
  • Provide scheduled front desk coverage during staff breaks and lunch periods. 
  • Manage multiple projects, deadlines and priorities simultaneously. 
  • Other duties as assigned by management. 
 
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS OF THE JOB:
  • Plan, organize and implement agency fundraising and donor recognition events under the direction of the Senior Marketing Manager and in coordination with respective Habitat department leaders
  • Possesses strong relationship-building skills with community partners, venues, vendors, sponsors and stakeholders. 
  • Coordinate and collaborate effectively with Advisory Council members and volunteers across a five-county service area for local event needs.
  • Communicate professionally and effectively with donors, sponsors, volunteers, vendors, community leaders, Advisory Council members and agency staff. 
  • Utilize a computer and associated software, including but not limited to Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, Salesforce and Teams, in performing the job functions.
  • Demonstrate exceptional written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to write articles, social media content, newsletters and promotional materials. 
  • Work collaboratively across departments while independently managing assigned projects from conception through completion. 
  • Work well independently on several projects concurrently and successfully manage multiple priorities and deadlines. 
  • Demonstrate strong organizational, project management and creative thinking skills.
  • Travel throughout the five-county service area.  
  • Commitment to Habitat’s mission, values and fundraising goals. 
  • Regular and reliable attendance required. 
  • Ability to lift up to 20 pounds with assistance. 
  • Must possess a valid driver’s license and reliable transportation.
 
QUALIFICATIONS:
  • College degree preferred; extensive work experience may be substituted. 
  • 3 or more years of experience in marketing, communications, development, special events, public relations or related fields strongly preferred. 
  • Experience managing social media platforms, content calendars, newsletters or marketing communications preferred. 
  • Strong writing, editing and storytelling skills. 
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint; ability to learn Salesforce or similar CRM systems and Adobe
  • Ability to bring energy, creativity and community relations expertise that positively impacts sponsors, donors and partners.

TIME REQUIREMENTS:
This position is 40 hours per week. Monday – Friday 8 a.m. – 5 p.m. After hour and weekend availability for special events is required in this role. Occasional overtime may be offered. Satisfactory attendance is required.
