General Information

Work Location: Bradenton Area Convention Center, 1 Haben Boulevard, Palmetto, Florida 34221

Powell Crosley Estate, 8374 North Tamiami Trail, Sarasota, Florida 34243

Work Hours: 40 hours per week, varying to support events, evenings, weddings and holidays as needed

Coordinates activities of staff and event personnel before, during, and after meetings, conferences, banquets, conventions, sporting events, and community gatherings at County facilities and designated event venues.

Working Conditions

Indoor/Outdoor situation; high noise environment while performing certain responsibilities. Lifting and carrying equipment up to 50 lbs. alone and up to 75 lbs. with assistance. Able to reach, bend, stoop and squat. Visual acuity, ability to hear and identify sounds. Able to perform strenuous work inside and outside under varying (including extreme) weather/temperature conditions. Regularly required to work other than normal business hours.

Essential Functions

Leads a team of event personnel before, during, and after assigned events at County facilities and designated venues.

Ensures facilities, services, and equipment are prepared and operational for events.

Assigns tasks, schedules crew members, and oversees event set-up, tear-down, and cleanup.

Supervises crew during events, ensuring safety, quality, and customer service standards are met.

Ensure compliance with applicable laws, codes, and regulations. Resolves problems as they arise.

Assists sales, booking, or facility management staff by preparing proposals, contracts, and entering information into event management or CRM systems.

Assists with setup, testing, and operation of event technical systems, including lighting, sound, and audiovisual equipment. Coordinates minor repairs or replacements as needed.

Prepare required reports, billing documentation, and may collect payments from lessees.

Works with third party vendors for concessions and other events needs.

Supports departmental marketing and outreach activities related to events.

Performs other related duties as assigned, including participation in emergency or disaster response activities, as required and consistent with the employee's qualifications, essential job functions, and applicable federal and Florida law.

Minimum Qualifications

High school diploma or equivalent.

Two (2) or more years of experience working in a high-volume event facility such as a convention center, theater, or banquet hall.

More

Experience in food and beverage and events operations desired.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

Able to prioritize tasks, deal effectively with competing and changing priorities, and meet deadlines.

Accurate, detail-oriented, and organized.

Able to resolve situations and problems that may require analysis and interpretation.

Good knowledge of department policies, rules, regulations and operating procedures.

Good knowledge and understanding of regulatory compliance necessary to successfully perform job responsibilities.

Good knowledge and understanding of all County computer systems and software applications required to perform job duties.

Good verbal and written communication skills and interpersonal skills in order to interact professionally and effectively with staff, volunteers, officials, vendors, and the general public. Able to explain policies, practices, and procedures for clarity and understanding by direct reports and other stakeholders.

Works under limited supervision for routine situations.
