Overview

Join the Events Operations team at The Ranch and play a key role in supporting a variety of livestock and equestrian events. In this hands on position, you will prepare, maintain, and restore livestock barns, arenas, and other event spaces before, during, and after events. Your work will help ensure facilities are safe, clean, and ready to provide a positive experience for event participants, exhibitors, spectators, and staff.

As an Events Operations Worker, you will operate equipment, assist with arena and barn maintenance, and support the day-to-day operational needs of rodeos, horse shows, livestock exhibitions, and other agricultural events. This position is ideal for someone who enjoys physical work, is comfortable working around livestock and horses, and thrives in a fast paced, team oriented environment where every event presents a new challenge.

Responsibilities

What youll be doing:

  • Prepare livestock and equestrian facilities for events, including the setup and teardown of stalls, panels, alleyways, wash racks, tack areas, chutes, arenas, and other event infrastructure.
  • Maintain barns, arenas, and surrounding grounds before, during, and after events by cleaning facilities, bedding stalls, removing waste, and ensuring a safe and professional appearance.
  • Operate tractors, arena drags, skid steers, forklifts, water trucks, and other equipment to maintain arena footing, move materials, and support event operations.
  • Perform routine facility maintenance and minor repairs, including stall repairs, gate adjustments, plumbing repairs, drain clearing, and other general maintenance tasks.
  • Support event staff, promoters, exhibitors, and participants by responding to requests, assisting with animal load-in/load-out, troubleshooting operational issues, and providing information to the public.
  • Monitor facilities for safety, security, and animal welfare concerns, including identifying hazards, enforcing facility rules, maintaining emergency access routes, and responding to loose or injured animals.
  • Assist with event operations across the campus, including equestrian events, livestock shows, trade shows, banquets, concerts, festivals, and other special events as assigned.
  • Maintain accurate records, complete reports, and communicate event updates, maintenance needs, safety concerns, and operational issues to supervisors and team members.

What were looking for:

  • Knowledge of livestock and equestrian facility operations, including animal behavior, safe handling practices, biosecurity measures, and event flow.

  • Understanding of arena preparation and maintenance requirements for various equestrian disciplines, including reining, barrel racing, rodeo events, hunter/jumper competitions, and livestock events.

  • Ability to safely operate and maintain equipment including tractors, arena drags, skid steers, forklifts, and other event support equipment.

  • Ability to identify safety hazards and take appropriate corrective action to protect guests, staff, exhibitors, and animals.

  • Strong communication and customer service skills with the ability to interact professionally with coworkers, event organizers, exhibitors, and the public.

  • Ability to read, understand, and follow department procedures, policies, safety requirements, and verbal and written instructions.

  • Basic computer skills, including the use of email, word processing, spreadsheets, and other business software applications.

  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships while working independently or as part of a team.

Qualifications

All candidates will be screened for the following required minimum qualifications. Any candidate who does not meet all of the qualifications listed as required will be eliminated from the process.

  • Must be at least 18 years of age.
  • One (1) year of experience in a directly related field or in the performance of similar duties and responsibilities required.
  • Possession of a valid Drivers License by date of hire required.

Supplemental Information

Schedule

Weekend availability is required due to the event-driven nature of operations at The Ranch. Holiday work may be required during major events and peak operational periods. This position does not include overnight shifts, on-call responsibilities, or remote work.

Please Note

This position requires the ability to work in a fast-paced environment around livestock, horses, equipment, event participants, and the public. The successful candidate must be willing and able to work a flexible schedule, including evenings, weekends, holidays, and extended shifts during events. Regular and predictable attendance is essential. The role also requires the ability to perform physically demanding work, including lifting, carrying, pushing, pulling, climbing, bending, and standing for extended periods. Candidates must be able to work both independently and collaboratively as part of a team while maintaining a strong commitment to safe work practices and providing excellent customer service.
