JOB SUMMARY

Reporting directly to the Evidence Director, responsible for receiving, maintaining, and recording media and documentary evidence received online and through paper records. Oversees completion of all discovery requests. Maintains online evidence depository (Digital Evidence Management System) through cloud environment.

EXAMPLES OF WORK PERFORMED

  • Maintains and releases evidence for County Attorney cases in accordance with policy and law
  • Assists attorneys/staff with trial preparation regarding duplication and/or redaction of evidence and discovery to defense counsel, defendants, and the public
  • Assists defense counsel with troubleshooting any issues regarding case evidence, the Williamson County Discovery Portal, and/or general case requests as they pertain to evidence and discovery
  • Assists Intake staff with receipt and appropriate cataloging of incoming evidence
  • Assists Intake staff and Investigators with identifying cases requiring additional evidence submission from law enforcement
  • Supports Victim Assistance Coordinators team in maintaining and cataloging information/evidence received from victims, witnesses, etc.
  • Serves as liaison with other county departments to modify, amend, or add processes to facilitate better workflow management
  • Provides training and assistance regarding the use of specific hardware and software to County Attorney employees
  • Develops and creates forms for use by County Attorney personnel
  • Maintains records of all office equipment and provides general in office IT assistance
  • Manages the County Attorney social media page and website
  • Maintains the front desk kiosks
  • Monitors storage and retention of disposed cases
  • Tracks inner-office issuance of county and County Attorney specific equipment
  • Assists in the development and implementation of new and/or modified workflow processes
  • Attends all meetings and trainings, as required
  • Performs special duties as assigned

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

  • Position involves prolonged sitting at a workstation, visual examination of documents, reaching, walking, twisting, bending, standing and occasional lifting/carrying

ENVIRONMENTAL FACTORS

  • Work is primarily indoors in an air-conditioned environment
  • Regular travel between work sites as required

IRREGULAR HOURS

  • Work outside of the normal office hours (Monday-Friday 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.) may be required
  • May be deemed essential personnel in the event of an emergency
  • Regular attendance is required

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

  • Associate degree in Criminal Justice, Sociology, Computer Science, Business Administration, Public Safety, or related field and one (1) year of related experience; OR an equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Six (6) months experience with audio/video editing or computer equipment
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite

LICENSES AND CERTIFICATIONS

Required within thirty (30) days of employment

  • Valid driver's license

Required within six (6) months of employment

  • Texas Crime Information Center (TCIC) certification
  • Criminal Justice Information Services (CJIS) certification

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Prior experience in a legal environment
  • Working knowledge of Odyssey, Tyler Technologies, Laserfiche, Jabber, and Adobe
